Rio Carioca subcontracted our booking to another tour operator. There was no mini van for the 4 of us thaT we had paid for. they spoke no English and kept motioning for us to wait. We are elderly; had travelled all night and we waited over 1 hour expecting another car or minivan to arrive, THE 4 OF US WITH LUGGAGE COULD NOT FIT IN THE SUV. We finally took taxis. I asked Viator for a refund and they said the tour operator refused to refund us our money. Shame on VIATOR and shame on RIO CARIOCA.
The operator canceled the night before. Shocking service. I need a full refund and won't deal again with a unreliable company.
BEWARE FALSE ADVERTISING! They advertise a "private minivan transfer." The picture they advertise is a Sprinter van. I purposely selected this transfer because we are 2 adults with 6 suitcases and 2 backpacks. I TOLD them in advance how much luggage we had. They sent a small sedan (it was maybe a Renault Logan?). We were picked up 20 minutes late because we were looking for a minivan and didn't expect that the small sedan that was parked outside waiting was for us. We were charged $90 USD for a car the size of a small Uber, which would have been closer to $30 USD. We were SQUISHED. The driver was very nice and accommodating. It didn't seem to be his fault. He seemed surprised and upset, and he texted pictures of our luggage to his office. I have tried to make this right with the company but they are no longer responding to me.
It is very professional, a person greeted us with a banner at the airport and took us to our driver. the vehicle was nice and roomy to fit our luggage, the driver drove very well and arrived to the hotel in good time. Matheos was the driver who picked up us at the hotel to take us back to airport. he was very polite, he found us inside the hotel and help us with our suitcases. he also was a great driver and got to the airport with easy and on time. Everything was perfect the only reason i didn’t not give the 5 stars it is because I was expecting a bilingual driver to be able to talk and get some information. The driver were polite and friendly but we had the language barrier
No Shows! They agreed to meet us at the exit gate upon arrival but they weren't there. I tried calling the number provided but got no answer. I contacted the viator hotline and had them try to contact the tour company but they could not as well. I asked for a refund and inquiry into what went wrong. As of today, two months later, I have not received a reply. I cannot decide which is worse, being stood up in front of family and friends or paying 3x the market cost of ride from airport to apartment. The most it should cost is $30 by taxi. I'm not certain how much the mercedes would cost or how nice it would be but it seems outrageous. I've used viator in the past but never again. Their unwillingness to assist in this matter is surprising. Especially when they clearly are at fault.
The driver was a "no show". Even with the assistance of the Tourist Services desk at the Rio airport, the driver could not be located and did not respond to phone calls or text messages.
Easy to set up and they arrived on time and were very efficient. Highly recommend for airport pick ups and hotel to airport transportation. Very easy and safe
Pick.up was ok but they sent a vehicle smaller than the picture. We specified we had 3 huge suitcases and it barely fit. They had a hard time closing the trunk. I was afraid half the time that it would pop.open along the way.Driver also was quite reckless. Not the best driver that we have had in all the years of using Viator. He got us there in one piece and on time so that's good enough, I guess. He was helpful though in getting us a trolley to get into the airport.
We went to the location we were told we would be picked up from and there was nothing there. So I needed to message the company just to find out where we really were supposed to be picked up. After I sent the picture up where we were the guy showed up and we were on our way. He was very personable and the car was very comfortable.
Excellent service...Drivers and airport greeter were professional and friendly would recommend to anyone looking for a driver.
