The food felt genuinely local — getting beyond the tourist centre and eating at places that locals actually love, with dishes we wouldn’t have found ourselves.
The stories behind the food — learning how Chiang Mai’s food has been shaped by Lanna, Burmese and Chinese influences, and hearing the stories of the families who’ve been cooking these dishes for generations.
It was ridiculously fun — travelling around by red truck, trying everything from legendary local dishes to insects and sweets, and finishing with drinks by the river. It felt like hanging out with someone who knows the real Chiang Mai rather than being taken around on a standard food tour.

Fantastic experience!!!
So many unexpected flavors — from the curries and noodles of northern Thailand, to the snacks and all those things that I probably would never have had the courage to order on my own.
We discovered a completely different side of Chiang Mai: we left the Old City behind and explored neighborhoods that, as a simple visitor, I would never have discovered.
Our guide Gee made the whole evening special — incredibly knowledgeable, but also nice, relaxed, and truly passionate about Chiang Mai and its cuisine. It felt much more like being shown around by a local friend than participating in an actual tour.
