Excellent tour. Rob was great! Very knowledgeable and friendly. We look forward to returning to Cardiff in the future thanks to Rob.
The guide was very nice and gave a good overview of Cardiff. The city was easy to walk around and he recommended good local Welsh cakes.
We took the Cardiff Tour with Tony on Sunday, March 22. It's been a month since our vacation, and our brief time in Wales has remained one of the best experiences of our entire two-week UK trip. Tony really made Cardiff come alive for us. Between taking us to the Torchwood Tower/Ianto's Shrine, Doctor Who hidden spots, the streak tour of the National Museum, Cardiff hotspots, and all the other bits-and-bobs about Welsh culture, Tony's knowledge was truly fantastic. He had great energy and was just fun to be around. Definitely recommend!
We had a lovely Sunday afternoon walk with our guide. She helped orient us to Cardiff. We visited 2 parks and she showed us places we could return to when we had more time. She told us how to get around in the city, which was very helpful for our 2 day stay in Cardiff. It was fun and informative to meet a local and learn about her experiences and recommendations in the city.
In the last week of Mar 26 we undertook a city tour with local tour guide and historian Tony Lloyd for our group of 2xAdults, 2xTeenages and twin 4 year old girls. Tony was such a gentlemen, full of energy and ability to articulate the finest of detail about Cardiff's City Centre past and present. Our twin girls also loved Tony who ensured he told them stories about the legendary dragons of Wales! We were all very engaged and would recommend Tony without hesitation!
We recently took a four-hour private walking tour of Cardiff, Wales, guided by Tony, and it was hands-down one of the best experiences of our trip. If you’re planning to visit the Welsh capital and want more than the usual tourist highlights, we can’t recommend Tony highly enough. Tony was an absolute standout guide—outstanding in every way. He provided all the essential information on Cardiff’s major landmarks, like the stunning Cardiff Castle (with its fascinating blend of Roman, Norman, and Victorian history), the elegant Civic Centre, and the vibrant Cardiff Bay area. But what really set this tour apart were the little-known facts he shared that you won’t find in guidebooks. He pointed out hidden gems like the secret tunnels beneath the city streets, the world’s oldest record store (Spillers Records in the charming Morgan Arcade), and quirky historical tidbits about Cardiff’s coal-exporting heyday and its surprising green spaces (more per person than any other major UK city). He even delved into lesser-known stories about ancient sites nearby and some of the city’s eccentric past, which added such depth and intrigue. What impressed us most was how engaging, energetic, and genuinely passionate Tony was throughout the entire four hours. He never seemed to tire, kept the energy high with his storytelling, and had a great sense of humor that made everything fun. Best of all, he tailored the tour perfectly to our interests—we mentioned a love for history and architecture, and he adjusted the pace and focus accordingly, skipping some areas to spend more time on the things we were most excited about. It felt like a personalized exploration rather than a standard group walk. The four-hour duration was ideal—not too rushed, with plenty of time to absorb the sights, ask questions, and even grab a quick coffee along the way. We covered a good amount of ground comfortably, and Tony’s local knowledge made navigation effortless. If you’re visiting Cardiff, do yourself a favor and book a private walking tour with Tony. He turned what could have been a nice sightseeing day into an unforgettable, insightful adventure. 5 out of 5 stars—highly recommended!
Rob was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. The tour gave us all the highlights and showed us around Cardiff pointing out things we would have otherwise not understood or not even noticed. I really enjoyed the tour and would recommend to anyone.
Tony was absolutely fabulous. He was informative, knowledgeable and very pleasant. His love for Cardiff and Wales was very apparent. I would highly recommend his tour.
Gillian was wonderful! Full of knowledge and laid back to changes we needed to make to accommodate our schedule. We were traveling from Glasgow to London and only made a 5 hour stop in Cardiff. We stored our luggage near the train station and saw the city in the 3 hours we had and we are so glad we did!!
Rob as a retired teacher and lifelong resident of Cardiff was a k knowledgeable and professional guide. I have high standards for guides and Rob passed with flying colours!
