We booked this tour at the last minute, and we’re so glad we did. I’ve visited Vietnam several times, but this was my first time experiencing the Cu Chi Tunnels. Having Jack as our tour guide made all the difference. You immediately know he’s special. His stories, anecdotes, and fascinating trivia come from a place of genuine pride, love, and loyalty to both his family’s legacy and his beloved country. Learning that Jack was a military sergeant added another layer of authenticity to the experience. When he talks about Vietnam’s history, you can feel that he lived it, understands it, and deeply respects it. What could have felt like a long day—the 1.5-hour journey to Cu Chi, another 1.5 hours back, and over 2.5 hours of walking and exploring—flew by because of his energy and storytelling. He has a unique way of encouraging people to step outside their comfort zones. Being a former drill sergeant, he can be surprisingly convincing when it comes to trying things you never thought you would do—whether that’s firing an AK-47, crawling through the tunnels, or simply pushing yourself through the trek. It was an unforgettable day, made even better by Jack’s passion, humor, and enthusiasm. If you’re booking this tour or traveling with this company, do yourself a favor and request Jack if you can. He is simply the best.

We booked a last minute tour and Vietnam Travel Group were very accommodating in finding us a group to join. Our tour guide, Jack, was very knowledgeable and a great storyteller – we learnt a lot about Vietnam’s long history, from long before the Vietnam war too. Jack’s own experiences and stories also provided additional context and a personal touch. The tour allows for plenty of bathroom breaks and food/snack options. Also, the van was really comfortable with great air conditioning.
