We booked the Roatán Eco Dune Buggy, Sloth Safari & Beach Adventure through Viator just a few days before our cruise, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! From the very beginning, Alexander the Great was fantastic. The morning of our excursion, he contacted us through WhatsApp, arrived early, and even sent us a selfie holding his sign so we knew exactly who to look for and where to find him outside the port. When I told him we were still making our way off the ship, he immediately reassured us that he was there waiting and there was no rush. To our surprise, it was just my husband and me! We had a private, air-conditioned SUV for the day and felt completely comfortable and safe the entire time. Alexander explained our itinerary, shared information about Roatán along the way, and really made the experience feel personal rather than like a typical crowded shore excursion. Our first stop was Mayan Eden, where our guide, Roman, was absolutely wonderful. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made our experience with the animals so much fun. Getting to touch the sloths and interact with the monkeys was definitely a highlight! We also visited a beautiful lookout point with incredible views of the island and plenty of opportunities for pictures. We happened to visit on Honduras Independence Day, which made the day even more special. We saw children dressed in traditional attire, decorated horses, and some of the celebrations happening around the island. It was such a beautiful glimpse into the local culture. Next came the dune buggies! Since we had done something similar before, we came prepared with clothes we didn't mind getting filthy. There hadn't been much rain, so instead of mud, we got VERY dusty, but that was half the fun! Once again, it was basically a private experience with just us, our ATV guide, and the photographer. We spent around 40 minutes on the trails and had an absolute blast. Afterward, we headed to a beautiful beach club. Since it was still early, around 10 a.m., we practically had the entire beach to ourselves for about two hours. It was peaceful, gorgeous, and the perfect way to relax after the dune buggies. Our tour also included a chocolate factory, but since we'd visited before, we asked Alexander if we could skip it and grab some authentic local food instead. He was completely flexible. Our first choice was packed because of the Independence Day celebrations, so Alexander took us to a local roadside spot he had mentioned earlier. BEST DECISION! We grabbed oxtails and stewed pork, and it was absolutely delicious. Eating authentic local food on the ride back to the port ended up being another unexpected highlight of the day. We cannot recommend this excursion enough. It gave us a little bit of everything: animals, culture, incredible views, dune buggies, beach time, local food, and a private tour experience. And Alexander the Great truly lived up to his name! He was friendly, accommodating, professional, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with. We loved hearing a little of his story and getting to know him along the way. We would 100% book with Roatán Eco Adventures and Alexander again** on our next visit to Roatán. If you're arriving by cruise ship and want a fun, personal experience without feeling rushed or herded around in a huge group, this is the excursion to book!

We had a private tour guide for the whole trip and he was very friendly and took great care of us. Sloth/zoo was great to see the animal. Buggy driving was fun, but the first couple of rides broke down on us when driving, but they were really fast at getting us a replacement (like 30 seconds).

The whole experience was awesome. We all had a fun time. Renie was a great host. He was knowledgeable about the island and was sure that everything went smoothly. Be sure to bring old shoes and/or water shoes. They will get wet and muddy. We would definitely do this experience again.

Best experience ever. From my drivers to and from the port to team 1 who handled our experience on the Buggys. Maya eden was very informational. We would definitely book again. Thabk you team 1 for your dedication to keep the group together ❤️

It was a great time at the wildlife zoo they took us by! All the animals looked Happy! The walk through the park was rocky so make sure you bring the right shoes. My water shoes were just "ok" to walk around with. The dune buggies are go carts so be prepared. We were really bummed out to find that out because we really wanted a fun/comfortable ride this time around for this type of excursion. Our go cart broke down during the ride and we had to switch but the guys were very accommodating when that all happened. All the guides were great and the picture prices are the end were reasonably priced to purchase. It wasn't too far from where the ships were so, that was convenient. We had to cut our trip a little short because we choose a later start time so I can't speak on the beach part. They accommodated well and made sure we were back to the ship with time to spare!

I’ve had an absolutely amazing time! I’m an animal lover, and I love adventure. The guides were chill, awesome and super friendly. I’ve really enjoyed my time, there. From our bus driver, Mayan Eden guide, and buggy guides!! They were all 5 stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Getting out of the port to find the tour guide was chaotic. The guide was amazing, but it was difficult to get to him. The animal sanctuary was fun. I wish I knew how muddy we would get riding the dune buggies, but it was so much fun.

Team Two! You gentlemen provided such a good time for us. Even during our daughter's mishap you guys were so professional and helpful. We really appreciate that. Despite that hiccup, we had so much fun!

We signed up for the Jungle and Private Beach tour and it was not at all what they advertised. When we got there, the machines didn't look anything like what is portrayed on their website. My husband and I went through 3 dune buggies before we had one with a functioning safety strap. Our friends were each on ATVs which kept breaking down and had bald tires. One of the guide's dune buggy even caught on fire. Once we finally got going we kept just going around in circles on the property. We thought we were just warming up but nope... that was it! No jungle, no creek, no views - nothing. I was told days later (after I wrote to the manager) that this was because of the rain that the island had got that week and it wasn't safe. I can totally understand that but absolutely NO ONE advised us of this ahead of time. We should have been told and offered the chance to reschedule or cancel. I had to ask to get a refund (which they did give - 1/4) but they were certainly not going to offer it. We also headed out the private beach but were turned away at the gate because of a wedding that was going on. The company should have known this ahead of time. So we wasted a half hour of our day driving around to another beach. The guides were great, especially Brian, but that is all I can say that was positive. There are other options on the island and I would definitely suggest trying those first. I would hope they would be more honest and forthcoming than this company was.
