I came to Kenya for work, and visiting Amboseli National Park was the highlight of my trip. Elephants and more elephants! Zebras , wildebeest, and giraffes. We didn’t get to see any lions that day, but it was an amazing experience. The park is very large so prepare for a long day in the vehicle. Roads are bumpy and dusty, so bring water and even a mask if you have some breathing issues. But it was utterly amazing. The visit to the Masai village was terrific, and be prepared for their villagers to try to sell you their handmade wares. All the sales go to support the community, but it may feel like you’re being pressured to buy things. You can absolutely say no and still enjoy your visit. Overall, an amazing experience, even thought it’s a very long day. And our guide, Alex, was fantastic!

Perfect tour for those with time constraints, but be aware that it's a very long day. The drive from Nairobi south to Amboseli takes hours, as does the drive back. But the reward is amazing views of Mt Kilimanjaro if the weather cooperates, still with bits of snow on top even in mid summer. And of course the elephants are the main draw here, and you'll see plenty of them. I was told more than once by locals that Amboseli is "the home of elephants," and it didn't disappoint. Alex was a fantastic guide and had great eyes to spot wildlife from afar so that we could drive closer for a better look. He also knew plenty enough about their behaviors to be able to predict where they would move next so that he could preposition our vehicle in the right place at the right time before turning off the engine and waiting for them to approach. Excellent tour, highly recommend! :)
