‎My partner and I wanted something different for our weekend in Nairobi, so we decided to try the Nairobi National Park game drive. A very good first experience of Nairobi national park, perfect for half a day’s layover. The pick-up was a bit hectic as another couple who had booked were delayed - first we were told to wait then we were taking to the park entrance and left there to wait for them, but it was sorted out eventually. The safari itself was very good, plenty of animals seen and good knowledge displayed by our guide, Peter. Quite incredible how there can be a national park so close to an airport and city but the animals didn’t seem bothered by the planes flying close by overhead which is great. Overall the time spent in the park was about four hours. The only small downside is that the rear seats of the van (which we were told to sit in) are a set of three, so someone has to go in the middle which gives them a more limited view. But we made do with what we had. At the end, we were taken to a gift shop, then told that the company had arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport as the other guests were going back to hotels. Also a bit chaotic but we made it fine. I’d definitely recommend this as a good value (and quite low priced) option. One thing to note is that all non-resident/local visitors to the park need to pay 80 USD to enter. We knew about this in advance but some others weren’t aware and were complaining. Our pick-up driver, Alex, helped us with this which was appreciated.
