Big Bad Bus, the whole experience was a nightmare. We arrived early to the Bus stop but the bus did not arrive as scheduled, we waited 50 minutes. The air conditioning on the bus is non existent. The Bus had some grimy slag stuck in the seat ( i have a photo). The Company refunded my money, however no compensation was offered for time spent waiting in the heat, use of data conversing with them for at least an hour and wasting my precious holiday time. There werent many people using this one at all. Another Company seemed more popular. I would not recommend based on my experience.

They change the route and didn’t update map. We were waiting 1.5 hours but bus didn’t come. We took taxi to travel to stating point of tour.

Wish we had chosen the other company. We apparently just missed a bus at our arrival spot to board, and were told we had to wait 45 minutes for our next boarding. But then that bus was delayed for mechanical issues. So after waiting an hour after we arrived, we finally boarded! Then the audio guide was not synced with the ride so that we learned about "what we had already passed by." I told the rep on board and was told it was a GPS problem they were working on. We rode the entire route back to the starting point and hopped off for lunch. We then at the same place and fortunately on this bus, the audio at least was synced. But once we got off on a designated stop, looked around, and returned to the same drop off stop, we waited, and the driver of the next bus (which was totally empty) drove right past us despite both my husband and I waving and trying to chase it down. We tried to call the phone number but that was not successful. We decided to walk to the next stop. As we waited, several of the other company's buses passed by but not any of the Big Bus. Another couple was waiting with us and told us their HOHO bus company had a reciprocal agreement that their ticket holders could ride whichever bus arrived first. So we tried twice to see if the other company might let us board theirs but was told no. Finally when the next bus came, it was actually the last bus of the day, so when we hopped off at the site we had next intended to visit, it meant we had to pay to take a taxi back. I totally wish I had not prebooked this company and had taken the opportunity to talk to the local reps before deciding which company to take. Clearly there was and is a difference between the competition. When I contacted the customer service after we returned to where we were staying, I assumed our pass would be extended for another day. But no, they could not do that, and offered to refund our tickets. Since we will be traveling for a bit, I can't easily check until we return home and I certainly hope they honor what they said.

We choose Big Bus for it’s online reviews. It did take us to the major sights however whenever we stopped and were waiting for a Big Bus at least 2-3 other City Sightseeing busses came by the stops. Big Bus needed more busses on the road. We were so concerned we stayed on the bus near the end just in case we didn’t get back to the cruise ship on time.

After posting a review of the Big Bus tour in Thessaloniki, the tour operator contacted me and took our complaint seriously. They indicated they would address the complaint and resolved it properly with us. So, I have removed the original review but included it in this post, so you know what issues you might encounter if you use their service. The tour itself is definitely worth doing, as some cities have more to offer than others. One thing is certain: if you don't take the tour, you will miss out on interesting things. Original review> For 17 years, our group of girlfriends and I have been visiting cities in Europe. One of the requirements is that there is a hop-on hop-off bus so that we can see the city's highlights. This year, however, there was a problem. We dutifully looked up where the bus stops were and chose the one closest to our hotel. Nowhere was there a sign to be seen indicating exactly where the bus stopped. We asked at a kiosk, and they indicated that the bus stops here. After waiting for over 45 minutes, there was still no bus. So we went looking for another bus stop, and sure enough, we almost found one; we saw the bus driving by and had an indication of where it was supposed to stop. We took a walk around the Agia Sofia church and found the house numbers we had found on Google where the bus was supposed to stop; however, here too, there was no sign pointing to a Hop on Hop off bus stop. Finally, after 1.5 hours, we were able to board the bus. The audio commentary was not synchronized with the route, which was a real shame. What stood out was that at not a single stop was there anything to indicate that it was a stop for the hop-on hop-off bus. This is very disappointing.

This bus tour of the city was the worst one we have ever been on. The route was through back streets and the commentary was out of sink withthe bus route and did not tell us anything about some of the key land marks in the city. There was only 4 other people on this bus and this must be the reason why. The city sight seeing bus was full and people were happy with them. Dont go with the big bus company, I complained when we completed the tour and they just stood there and did not a say a word. Dreadful experience and a waste of my time and money
