Madan was the perfect tour guide, what he didn't know about the Himalayas and the surrounding areas wasn't worth knowing!! Sunrise was spectacular and the hike after was a nice insite to village life. Would definitely recommend and I would love to go on a tour with Madan to Everest base camp. Madan is a credit to the tour company

This was one of the highlights of our time in Kathmandu. We started early in the morning and reached Nagarkot in time to enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. After that, the hike through the countryside, small villages, terraced fields, and local trails was a great way to experience a different side of Nepal. The walk to Changu Narayan was scenic and relaxed, with plenty of opportunities to stop, take photos, and enjoy the surroundings. The admission fees that were included in our package made everything very convenient. We didn't have to worry about arranging the main entrance tickets separately. The whole experience took most of the morning and was well worth the time. We never felt rushed, and there was enough time to enjoy the sunrise, hike, explore Changu Narayan, and take breaks along the way. The atmosphere was peaceful, especially during the early morning. Being away from the busy streets of Kathmandu and walking through the villages made the experience feel much more authentic. The mountain views and fresh morning air were definitely a bonus. We really appreciated that this was a private experience rather than being part of a large group. It made the hike much more comfortable and allowed us to go at our own pace. Nagarkot can get busy around sunrise, but starting early helped us enjoy the viewpoint before it became too crowded. A special mention goes to our guide, Shishir. He was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with. He shared interesting information about Nepalese culture, history, villages, nature, and the places we passed along the trail. He also made sure we were comfortable and never rushed us. Shishir really made the experience feel personal rather than like just another organized tour. The team at Himalayan Planet Adventures also deserves credit for the smooth organization, communication, pickup, and overall coordination. Everything went according to plan. I would recommend this experience to couples, solo travelers, families, and anyone who wants to see the Himalayan landscape without committing to a multi-day trek. It is especially good for people who want a combination of sunrise views, hiking, nature, local villages, and culture in one day. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and having Shishir as our guide made it even more memorable. We would happily choose Himalayan Planet Adventures again on a future visit to Nepal.

I had an amazing day with Shishir. We started very early to see the Himalayas and then spent hours hiking through the mountains, villages and countryside, all the way to Changu Narayan. He took me to places I would never have discovered on my own and gave me a much better understanding of Nepal along the way. Shishir has an extensive knowledge of the country, the mountains, Nepalese culture and Buddhism, and was always happy to answer my endless questions. He was also very flexible and adapted the day to what I wanted to do, which made the experience feel personal rather than like a standard tour. Above all, he is a genuinely nice, trustworthy and interesting person to spend the day with. I really enjoyed both the hiking and our conversations. If I return to Nepal, I would definitely contact Shishir again. I recommend him without hesitation to anyone visiting Kathmandu who wants to discover the real Nepal beyond the usual tourist circuit.

The team contacted me immediately after booking and kept confirming the timing before the trip. Even though I accidentally gave the wrong hotel address, the driver and staff were still very kind and quickly came to pick us up without any complaints. Our driver, Ganesh, arrived exactly at 4:00 AM and drove very safely through the mountain roads. Although the weather forecast showed rain, we decided to try our luck — and we were so happy we did! We were able to see a beautiful sea of clouds, part of the sunrise, and some amazing Himalayan views. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. If you have limited time, this is a great experience to try. Of course, the weather cannot be controlled, so seeing Everest is not guaranteed, but it is definitely worth it!

My niece and I really enjoyed the visit to Nagarkot although the weather did not favor us. Shishir, our guide, shared valuable information about the place and about Nepal. He is friendly, helpful, friendly and very professional. Our walk with him was very enjoyable.

A wonderful experience with Shishir Thapa and his driver. After a breathtaking sunrise, we set off on a 4-hour excursion through the countryside around Kathmandu. Shishir is very kind, full of stories to share, and helpful—a real pleasure! Don’t miss out on this immersive and exotic little adventure!

We were up super early for our hike with Shishir, our guide for the morning. Sadly, the weather was not in our favour and we never saw the Himalayas at sunrise from the lookout at Nagarcot. Afterwards, we opted to stop for an 'international' breakfast at a hotel which, in hindsight, turned out to be expensive and not worth the additional cost of 1600 rupees per person. I wish we'd gone for a cheaper, Nepalese breakfast, an option also offered to us. I very much wanted to experience more of Nepal as we were staying in the heart of Kathmandu with its bustling city vibe and the hike took us out of the city for an authentic experience of rural Nepal. We passed through small villages as the villagers went about their everyday business. We watched goats chewing on their breakfast; walked through forests of fir and eucalyptus trees; passed temples and monuments with some wonderful views over Kathmandu valley on our way to Changu Narayan, the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal. Shishir, our very charming Nepalese guide, shared a wealth of information with us along the way. We are a bit older (60's) and not as fit as many hikers, I'm sure, but this 4 hour hike was not too challenging and Shishir adjusted to our pace.

Last minute decision to do a solo trip for my birthday and what better way to start the day than with a morning sunrise! The day was just perfect and the guide Shishir had a big part in that! He was so very kind and really has a passion for teaching and nature and it was apparent in the hike/tour. After the sunrise, we had a wonderful local breakfast and then started our hike down the mountain (through villages and local temples) to Changunarayan Temple. I highly recommend this tour and with Shishir, you won't be disappointed! *TIPS* Bring plenty of water and light snacks as the tour is over 6 hours and temperatures do rise also dress in layers! Bring cash for breakfast, to shop near Changunarayan Temple (beautiful handmade art and carvings from locals) and tip for the guide/driver.
