Confusion at the entrance. Employees are moderately informed. After first audioguide pickup, voucher received for entrance ticket. Then still have to stand in line. (so no skip the line! ) to get entrance proof. No map received. In short, the price does not outweigh it. Can just as easily pay audioguide ( 16,- for two people ) and entrance ( 18,- per person ).

Although we didn’t use the skip the line element as there was only a couple of people in front of us, it was quick to obtain the audio guides and instructions for use and provided a structured numbered route to follow to see all the main sites with interesting information provided. Would not have managed to see all 46 sites without this & was a less formal option to a tour guide party, enabling us to take more time in places and do the tour at our own pace in around 2.5-3 hours. Would definitely recommend.

Grumpy staff, the tour was not v interesting compared to Pompei and no catering other then vending machines on site. The map was hard to read on the app and my daughter (9yo) had no interest in the story on the kids guide. Also quite hard to get to from Sorrento. Would not recommend.

We visited Herculaneum departing from Sorrento station, our driver Gaspare was fantastic giving us so much information along the way, I had skip the line tickets and our guide Giovanni was formidable. TO DO AGAIN!

Excellent activity and must see! Definitely get there early in the morning as it gets very hot. Just be aware that redeeming these tickets is a bit of a process - you have to head to the audio guide desk first where you need to hand over either a passport, driving licence or credit card as a deposit for the audio guides. You’ll then be given vouchers for tickets which you have to exchange back at the ticket desk. It’s a bit of a faff so just be aware that at busy times this adds extra time.

The tour is fantastic, but the audio guide point isn’t obvious so we needed to ask a couple of staff before we could get tickets. Really good audio guide though, we spent 4 hours there and saw pretty much everything. Would recommend this trip.

Do not use this tour operator. We signed up for this tour and were traveling to Herculaneum by train. On the day of the tour, there was a train strike which we did not find out about until we arrived at the train station. Hundreds of passengers were stranded and we could not get there. Due to these unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we requested a refund which was denied because we did not cancel 24 hours in advance. Extremely unhappy that the tour operator denied our refund request. Buyer beware!

Very disappointed in Viator. Local trains went on strike the morning of our tour, and we had no way of getting to Herculaneum. Viator would not refund us our money. there was no tour guide that needed to be compensated for their time. We will think twice about using them when traveling again

Bought into this skip the line idea for Herculaneum expecting to be able to show the barcode and enter. No, what you receive says it's a ticket but it's a voucher. Firstly I had to use it to pick up the audio guide at the back of the building. At the same time I was handed another voucher for an actual ticket to enter the park. I then had to take this voucher and join the ticket office queue with everyone else. I paid early and a premium expressly to avoid this.

The Herculaneum audio guide is next to useless. The numbering system does not add up.....excuse the pun. There must be better audio guides available.
