Old town walking around and taking pictures . Too many mosquitoes took away the fun. Over priced guided tour
A good tour to a beautiful place but not worth the cost. This trip can easily be organised independently. For the cost we should have received upgraded ferry tickets.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable but this was a very overpriced excursion. It basically covered a 90 minute private tour followed by 5 1/2 hours of free time. Really? The round trip ferry was $21 USD per person which would have made the 90 min tour cost $336 USD based on two people. Nothing against the tour guide but I really feel ripped off and should be asking for money back.
My husband and I went to Colonia, leaving Buenos Aires. We love the place, people and locations are many nice.
Excellent tour guide who goes out of her way to give you a good experience in Uraguay. Tour is good for a dat
Wonderful village, good guide, great lunch. Takes an hour each way to get through check in, emigration, customs, etc. Pickup at hotel was prompt. Return ferry was 15 min late but driver was waited for us. Thought there might be too much time after end of guided tour and check in for return but not really. Plenty to see and do. Sycamores in bloom caused allergies to flare. Could do on own but guide was very additive. All in all worth the money.
Excellent walk from Buenos Aires. I bought on the Buquebus website and traveled at 9 a.m. Quiet boat trip but the queue was huge to enter as it was high station Jan/19. There's a small DutyFree on the boat and a good snack. I hired a local guide over the Internet who welcomed us and made the city tour on foot through the old town, very good. There we can rent a cart to stroll the beaches. Then we are free to explore a little more and we return at 9:00 p.m.
We book this trip with the idea to spend a day at Uruguay while staying the Buenos Aires. It takes a while in the ferry terminal to check-in and get to Colonia but it is worth it. The old town is remarkable and peaceful. The tour guide is very nice and friendly and showing us a great restaurant at the old street. Highly recommended for people who likes old ruins and old style building. Nothing munificent but ancient and old fashion stone houses.
I thought the tour guide was great! But the trip was too expensive. Will Avoid Viator tours - clearly a huge markup. Had a pleasant time. Would go again, but without the intermediator
I had read reviews suggesting that this ENTIRE DAY trip was a bit overhyped. Add a mix up in missing the Viator email with the tour directions didn't help. I was dropped at the terminal by the very nice driver and pointed to a desk. Since I didn't see the email with the tickets, I didn't have a ticket. So, I was directed to get a ticket for $75. Okay, good thing I had money, right? It was pouring rain and my very nice guide was waiting upon arrival. It continued to pour but a friend had suggested a particular hotel restaurant and I thought it would be better to sit with something to nibble on than stand in the terminal. We took a cab and had tea before the weather broke. Luckily, the VERY SMALL museums opened early so we could spend time indoors. The area of interest is only a few blocks and I really hate to say it but if you've travelled anywhere before, including California with it's Spanish influences, I don't see this as a 'must see' - not for the money and time.
