We had the pleasure of booking 3 private, customized tours with Samuel. He built 2 half-day and 1 full-day tours with a list of destinations and activities we emailed him ahead of time. He personally hiked with us pointing out flora and interesting facts during the hike, was able to pace and wait patiently for members of our family and take loads of photos with a smile! Most importantly he ensured each day included what we were able to cover comfortably, provided extra water, a raincoat and hiking sticks. We even had time to dip into a waterfall post hike. He managed each day with weather conditions and was able to swap out onshore when needed. A memorable, meaningful vacation thanks to him with his friendly demeanor, knowledge and professionalism. Samuel is an excellent guide and driver. His commentary is knowledgeable, friendly and geared to the interests of his guests. He also gets you 'behind the scenes' in places like the tea plantation, ceramic studio and pineapple plantation. Entirely customer-focused and flexible. Book early - he fills up his schedule months in advance! Highly recommended.

Definitely the favourite part of this tour was Samuel! He was courteous, on time in the “lobby” of the cruise terminal exit. Samuel has a degree in tourism and this showed through his knowledge about his home island and the Azores. He customized the tour to the nationalities of the passengers, US and Canadian, with anecdotes. The island is beautiful and the coastline stunning. It is a shame that the blue and green lake phenomenon is being altered by the algae bloom that is changing both the green. The cost to tourism of the major export, milk and related farming. The information about greenhouse growing of pineapples and sample of pineapple liqueur was a nice finishing touch. We were able to find cork souvenirs along the street near to the cruise

Samuel took us on a beautiful half day tour of the Sete Cidades, including the actual tow inside the volcano and the whole rim around, another caldera inside and the beautiful twin lakes. It was quite foggy in the beginning but he managed the route so we were able to see it well. The pace was just right and the coffee stop perfect. Samuel was very knowledgeable and clearly explained the history behind the pineapple plantation. I would highly recommend this tour!

My husband and I cannot recommend this tour enough. Samuel is an incredible guide! He is clearly invested in providing the best experience for his guests. Samuel picked us up at the airport and patiently waited despite our flight delay. He is clearly passionate about his work and extremely knowledgeable. He is kind and easy to talk to. He was very flexible and had back up plans to take us up close to Sete Cidades due to the foggy weather conditions. We explored many different unique viewpoints with interesting stories/facts shared. We have been on many tours through Viator but this has been the most enjoyable one we've been on! He took some amazing pictures for us to remember the beauty of this island. Don't waste time elsewhere - this is a must book tour! Worth every penny and then some! We had very little time in Azores and we felt like we covered and learnt so much in a day. Fun packed tour with enough time to take in the sights without feeling rushed. It exceeded our expectations in every way. We will be back and next time with more friends!!

This is one of the best tours we ever did in our traveling. Sam is such a personable, caring guide who knows and is willing to share so much about Azores. 4 hours went so fast! Sam never looked at the clock, never rushed us and was very respectful. He shared a lot about his life, that made the tour even more real and enjoyable. Please give this small business owner a try, you will Not be disappointed. His English is excellent!

We absolutely love our tour with Sam! His passion and love for the Azors and Sete Cidades was contagious and helped us appreciate the beauty of the island. He knew all the best spots with the perfect views to visit. On top of everything, he is also a great photographer and helped snap pro shots of us throughout the tour. I wish we had more time to go on additional adventures with Sam!

The tour guide was excellent and very helpful, we saw a lot of things in a short amount of time, plenty of chances for photos

This half day was brilliant. We saw lots of view point and Samuel was very knowledgeable about the island and adapted the tour as needed with the weather and our preference . Highly recommend!
