Another succesful vacation with Travel China Guide! I added one more day to the 4 day Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou tour in order to see the Dujiangyan irrigation system. My guide in Chengdu, Andrea, met me at the airport and showed me the dining spots near my hotel once I checked in. The next day, she took me to the panda center, Qingchengshan, and Dujiangyan. Andrea did a greatr job explaing the water diversion system and how it changes over the seasons. The next day, she took me to my seat on the train to Jiuzhaigou. Peter met me and it was off to Huanglong. He made sure that I was handling hiking at 3500 meters. The next daywe saw Jiuzhaigou. The last day was back in Chengdu seeing city sights with Andrea. Everything went smoothly and both guides were excellent.

We had a great time with Julie as our guide, panda base and Lesan Buddha. Amazing sites and experiences made better with Julie’s explanation of it all.

A fantastic trip to Wolong Panda Base from Chengdu. So much better than just seeing the pandas with the crowds in Chengdu. A two hour car ride away (more on that later) up into the mountains, but well worth it. We were arms length from a panda as he was fed, so hard to resist the temptation to stroke him. The activities were fun, though don’t be fooled by the “volunteering” name, it’s an experience day not a day of volunteering, but fantastic nonetheless. After the activities we spent hours just walking around the panda base and watching all the pandas, around 100 I think, and taking far more photos and videos than sensible. The Grand Hyatt hotel was exceptional, especially the breakfasts, and staff so helpful and accommodating. Hard to stand out from the already high standard in China, but the Grand Hyatt did. Now the not so good bit as I believe reviews are only worth leaving if you’re honest. We arrived at the train station, no sign of Julie our guide, eventually met up with her after several WeChats (WeChat is an essential download for China by the way, along with Alipay). After driving two hours and some very poor driving we asked how long to go, which Julie deflected. We then found we spent the next 30mins returning down the mountain and another 30mins to get to the Panda Base, so we arrived there an hour late. Luckily just in time not to miss the activities, but it was close. Apparently the driver took the wrong turn, which is frustrating when you’ve hired a “professional driver” and there’s GPS. Overall though a fantastic experience, just slightly let down by Julie our guide and our driver.

We had a wonderful day in Chengdu. It began with a visit to the Giant Panda Research Station. Thanks to our guide, Claire, who knows the best route to take at the station and the timing and locations for spotting the pandas, we saw many pandas eating bamboo, climbing trees and playing. She also showed us the 76 day old adorable red panda babies in their nursery. This was followed by a stroll through the Broad and Narrow alleys, where tradition and culture create an intriguing mix in this historical section of the city. Then Claire introduced us to one of the city's most famous cuisines - hot pot - in a nearby restaurant, showing us how to enjoy this special dish. It was an outstanding meal. After lunch we visited the People's Park, also know locally as Chengdu's living room. It's a place where people meet to drink tea, play games, dance and even post personal notices at Matchmaker's Corner. We soaked up the atmosphere at one of the many tea houses in the park. Thanks to a great itinerary and our fantastic guide, Claire, we had a truly memorable day.

If you’re considering a guide in Chengdu, Conie is highly recommended. She timed our visit to the Panda Base so we could see the pandas active, brought Chengdu’s history to life, and introduced us to Chinese traditions such as teahouse culture. She also provided insight into local social life, including Chengdu’s marriage market and retirement culture in People’s Park. Tickets, transport, timing, and food were handled seamlessly, and she adapted to our pace. In addition, she has a great communication style and excellent English.

Had a good and informative visit to Chengdu. Our guide Julie was very knowledgeable about the places we visited, mainly Leshan giant Buddha and The Giant Panda Research and Breeding Centre. Timing was great and we saw lots of active pandas. Julie was also very patient with my walking due to my bad knee. I will recommend Julie as your guide in Chengdu.

We had a wonderful 24 hours with a lovely bubbly guide called Claire . She packed in so much for us to experience. We tried different food walking around the market. Has an amazing hotpot. She knew the best routes around the Panda park.Claire is full of information and her personality and her little giggles you can't help but have a great time. Thank you Claire

Andrea was the best guide. She was very knowledgeable and helpful, and we learned so much about her beautiful city. Her perfect English made our experience so much more meaningful.
