Driver was good, car was nice. Not really a tour though just a driver. Huanghuacheng is very theme parkish. They built a bunch of rollercoasters etc next to the wall, which is questionably refurbished.🤦♂️
The trip to Huanghuacheng was breathtaking. Seeing the great wall view along the lake was very scenic with great views. The outdoor walk in the heat needs one to come prepared with water and be prepared for a steep climb. We missed the visit to Mutianyu, which was closed due to weather conditions from the previous day, but the driver took us to a different shrine experience.
We had an amazing experience visiting the Great Wall of China with our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the trip both fun and informative. The guide helped us find the best viewpoints, and took care of every detail, which made our visit smooth and memorable. Highly recommend!

Our driver was Bruce. The driver is not a tour guide for the Wall, but he does lots of other things; arranging the entry tickets, helping you with locating lunch and snacks, and answering questions along the drive. We went to Mutianyu first, leaving at 8 am from our hotel in Beijing. Mutianyu was not crowded when we got there, but began to be crowded two hours later when we came back down. We had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Then he drove us to Huanghuacheng, where there were very few people. It was lovely to walk along the wall and then return along the bank of the reservoir. It is a bit expensive to have your own driver but you aren’t on a strict schedule and you get door to door service.
