I was given a tour and demonstration of several crafts, like weaving and pottery. I was also shown some of the local Bishnoi practices for welcoming people. The host Chhotaram was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour!
We highly recommend this authentic experience, away from the traditional tourist circuits of Rajasthan. We spent the afternoon with Ashok who showed us around the village, introduced us to the village ceramist and showed us the ancestral crafts of his family of upholsterers. The day ended with a delicious dinner prepared by his family. An unforgettable experience to live with your family!
We travelled with ChotaRam Prajapat and learnt about the local arts and crafts pottery, indigo dyeing, Dabu prints, block printing, and specially interlock Durrie weaving. This was followed by dinner at their home in a very family environment. Food was cooked on the wood fired Chulha. It’s an amazing experience! Choraram ji discussed in detail how the local artisans are benefitted by the interest shown by travellers in their art. Durrie making is an art which is on the brink of dying and needs to be encouraged We bought (Dabu block printed) bed sheets and Durrie from local craftsmen Enjoyed the local Rajasthani food KairSangari, Rabodi and Bajri roti with lasun chutney under a starlit sky 👌👌👌 We also saw Neel Gai and flocks of Peacocks and peahens on our way
Dear Yamini L, Greetings from Village Safari Day Tours ! Thanks for enjoyed our arts and craft half day tour and for excellent reviews in TripAdvisor. Your reviews will help to other travelers to choose our authentic tour. If you ever come back to Rajasthan give us another chance for another wonderful experience. Thanks and Warm Regards Chhotaram Prajapat
In conclusion, it was quite disappointing. The guide was very kind and explained a lot of things to me in a friendly manner. I was alone, so we finished earlier than the stated time and returned to town. I expected this, but even though it was a traditional craft village, it had a strong tourist element, and I didn't get the impression that it was truly traditional and had been passed down to the present day. Also, there was only a little experience and sightseeing, and the rest of the time we were encouraged to shop. If there was something I wanted, I would buy it. Because I think it's wrong to buy something from a craftsman as a thank you or a compromise. The guide and the craftsman noticed that I wasn't buying anything and as a result, they argued, and I was asked to give them a tip. I don't have a problem with paying tips, but the sight of them arguing is not very pleasant. Some countries don't have a tipping culture. I don't know how much the craftsmen are paid, but not everyone likes the products and buys them, so I think it's better to have the tour organized in a way that you are satisfied with in the first place.
Dear Sir, Greetings ! Thank you very much for reviews. We are sorry to hear that you were disappoint in our tour because you had less time. But we never rush in our tour as you had only craft tour and in tour it was only you there was no other guests so if you took less time then what we can do it was your fold. And also you don't know english but still we did our best to explain you everythings. We never force our guests to buy anythings in our tour because our tour is not a shopping tour . If you felt then we are sorry for that. Thanks and Kind Regards Chhotaram Prajapat
A fantastic tour with a very sympathetic guide and driver to watch the families potter and weave was impressive, the food was also very tasty.
We went on a village tour, showing us different craft families, pottery, weaving and traditional ceremony. Om our guide was great answering all are questions. We also had home cooked lunch which was delicious
This tour was amazing! If you enjoy handcraft and art then you'll love this tour. The food was also incredible!
It was great watching the artists doing their work. The guide was very sweet and there was no pressure to buy anything. Although of course we did because everything was so lovely. We had a fabulous time.
This tour conducted by Prajapati family gives a good insight into the rural life of Bishnoi and other communities residing in different villages. We also saw from close quarters, peacocks, peahen, kingfisher, deer, blackbuck and blue bull. We also enjoyed doing some pottery and witnessed block printing and rug weaving by village artisans. It was a very enjoyable experience. The tour ended with village food cooked on slow fire. which was a treat. Our escort & guide, Ashok Prajapati, was very courteous, well versed with the history of the place and took us to all the right places so that we could cover so much in just about 5-6 hours. He also offers homestay facilities, which seemed quite comfortable, though we did not stay there. The family also makes dhurries of cotton, coir and camel wool, using natural colors. the designs were very attractive. Highly recommend this tour.
Dear Rajesh Ji, Greetings from Authentic Indian Bishnoi Village Safari ! Thanks for excellent reviews for us. We glad to hear that you enjoyed our tour lots. Your words and reviews will help to this travellers to choose our homestay. Thanks & Best Regards Chhotaram Prajapat
Very unique experience. In half a day you get to see Black Bucks & Nilgai up close, meet villagers in the hinterland of Rajasthan and also sample and learn about traditional art forms and traditions. The best part is that the Prajapati's who run this are weavers by profession and they stay in the same village as the Bishnoi's, therefore the experience is much more authentic. Om, our guide was very warm and knowledgeable. Icing on the cake was the home cooked meal we had at the end of the trip at the Prajapati's family home. Apart from the usual touristy trappings of a city, this is an experience that you must sign up for. Pro tip: they also run a beautiful homestay that's listed on Airbnb.
