This was such a special experience. We learnt so much - our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we had an authentic experience. The family were so lovely and we had an incredible home cooked meal.
A visit to the Bishnoi villages was a lovely way to experience rural life in Rajasthan. The arrangements were smooth, and Shamburam took us around in his jeep, making four stops where we got to see blackbucks, chinkara, and even baby deer in their natural surroundings. We also visited a block-printing workshop, where we learned how traditional block-printed textiles are made. At the pottery stop, we were given a chance to try our hand at making a pot, which was a fun experience. Although there were opportunities to purchase rugs or textiles, there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything. The tour ended with a homely lunch at Shamburam’s house, where his family also runs a small rug-making facility that creates beautiful rugs from coir and camel wool. The meal prepared by his family was delicious, and we even got to play with Baby Jiya, which added a sweet personal touch to the visit. Shamburam was an excellent guide—knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about Bishnoi traditions, local culture, wildlife, and vegetation. It was a meaningful and memorable experience overall.
Chhotaram Prajapat gave us a fantastic tour. We spent the early morning in nature spotting wildlife, including the mystical ‘Black Buck’ (multiple!), then viewing a demonstration of the Bishnoi welcoming ceremony, attended and participated in turntable pottery making and finally the traditional weaving of rugs at Chhotoram’s own family home. Rugs of Maharaja quality with splendid colours. The day ended with a family meal with exquisite homemade Rajasthani food. We thank you very much, Chottaram, and we would definitely recommend this tour to anybody who wants a real, intimate, heartwarming tour of rural India and welcome into a hardworking Marwari family.
The tour of Chhotaram included three stops, one of which was a pottery where we could also make pottery ourselves, which was a lot of fun. The last stop was with his family, who run a carpet weaving business. There was also lunch there. Overall, we would have expected even more interaction with people or insights into village life.
🇬🇧English below We had a wonderful experience with Chhotaram. We spent an extraordinary day discovering the local wildlife, learning about various crafts, visiting a local farm with a traditional welcome and enjoying an absolutely delicious meal with Chhotaram's family. We learned a lot about their way of life, their respect for flora and fauna and their close connection to the local economy, which is based on short supply chains. It was an extremely enriching experience and an inspiring example for us! Thanks again to Chhotaram and his family for the warm hospitality and for giving us this opportunity. We recommend this experience 100%! 🇬🇧 English We had a wonderful experience with Chhotaram. My daughter and I had an exceptional experience with Chhotaram! It was an experience we will never forget! We saw wildlife we had never seen before. Chhotaram was excellent at sharing information about plants, animals and his culture. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The warm greetings and hospitality we received on the trip was fabulous. Meeting a local family and having home cooked lunch was amazing!
We were picked up punctually at our hôtel and a mere 20 minutes outside of Jodhpur we were off the beaten track. Dirt roads led us to a typical small farmer with a few buffalo and land that looked liké nothing could grow there - but it does. And once again so touched by the incredible generosity of people that have virtually nothing. Visiting a ancestral potter village as well as a Duhri carpet making family where we had a delicious simple lunch with the family. We certainly recommend this company
The family were lovely and welcoming and we had a fantastic time. We especially loved seeing the local wildlife and the food was delicious!
Good insight to all events mentioned. Good informative guide, who explained the Bishnoi villages to us. There was no pressure to buy anything but the offer was always there. I feel I need to mention there was no bottle of water given so please make sure you bring your own!
Ashok is a very kind, considerate & well spoken tour guide. We felt safe, cared for & never pressured. The tour was a lovely insight into authentic life outside of Jodhpur city. We saw beautiful wildlife in their natural habitat, even endangered Siberian cranes! Ashok is dedicated to his family, culture & heritage. He is passionate about supporting local community, preserving cultural traditions & caring for the environment. It was our absolute pleasure to share time with him on this safari! With gratitude & blessings! 💙🙏🏽🦌🐦✨✨✨
