Sometimes one beach is calm while another just a few miles away is experiencing strong wind, surf, or reduced visibility. Portuguese man o’ war can also arrive very quickly with changing currents and water temperatures, making conditions change from one moment to the next. While we always hope to operate every tour as planned, the safety of our guests comes first. We truly appreciate your flexibility and positive attitude when faced with unexpected conditions. We're also happy to hear the refund process was handled quickly and that Luis helped provide options instead of simply canceling the day. We completely understand how disappointing it can be when ocean conditions affect vacation plans, especially during a short stay in Los Cabos. We’re glad you mentioned that communication throughout the booking process was good overall. Just to clarify, the messaging through the Viator chat is handled directly by us as the local operator, not by Viator itself. We also want to clarify an important detail for future travelers reading this review: the snorkeling tour to Chileno Bay and Santa María Cove is a beach-entry snorkeling experience, not a boat tour. This is explained in the activity description, “Good to Know” section, and confirmation messages. Regarding the cancellation timing, the Port Captain advisory affecting that specific area came approximately 15 minutes before your scheduled pickup. Ocean and visibility conditions in Baja California Sur can change extremely quickly, sometimes within minutes, and that particular morning conditions were significantly better near the Arch in Cabo San Lucas. That’s why we offered the kayaking and snorkeling alternative, which many guests that same day ended up absolutely loving. The kayaks being on the van was simply because the transportation was also scheduled for other guests participating in kayaking activities that morning. It was not an indication that your snorkeling experience had already been canceled earlier. We always try to adapt in real time to provide the safest and best possible experience in the Sea of Cortez, while also offering alternatives or refunds whenever conditions do not allow us to operate as planned.
