My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour “Alternative Athens” that included six very different neighborhoods, a bit of history, and open responses to personal questions from our great guide Elena! The tour felt relaxing and intimate, and at the same time we learnt a lot about Athens and its people.
My husband and I have visited friends in Athens several times so have been to the main attractions such as the acropolis and the acropolis museum. What appealed about this tour was the fact that it visited different areas of the city and gave us an insight into how ordinary Athenians live, such as visiting the meat and fish market and edgier districts that we would probably avoid if we were exploring on our own. Our guide Leo was really friendly and knowledgeable. We felt really welcomed and he took an interest in everyone in our small group. It was a four hour tour but included a break for a drink and we got to chat to our fellow travellers which doesn’t happen on every tour. Thanks so much Leo for a very enjoyable and informative tour!
This tour was well organized and offered a nice overview of Athens’ history as well as interesting insight into some of Athens’ neighborhoods. The guide was knowledgeable and approachable. The four hour tour covered a lot of ground but was well planned and cohesive. It was a nice way to start my trip which enhanced the rest of my stay in Athens.
Leo was fantastic. We were lucky enough to be the only ones on the tour so we were able to ask as many questions as we wanted and Leo knew the answers! Great way to get oriented to Athens!
A very beautiful and very interesting tour off the beaten path. We discovered neighborhoods we would never have gone to if Leonidas hadn't accompanied us! The tour lasts 4 hours and 30 minutes and you don't get bored for a second. We approached daily life in places still inhabited by Athenians. The explanations regarding the development of the city, the functions of the different neighborhoods, and the history were clear and precise in impeccable French. Thanks again to Leonidas.
Excellent guide of the districts of central Athens. We saw and learnt many things about Athens we would have never known. The guide who was incredibly knowledgeable gave us a fascinating insight into Greek Life and Greek mythology. It was truly amazing.
Andreas was a wonderful guide who shared his knowledge of Greek history throughout the tour. He made the tour enjoyable and we felt like we had a better understanding of Athens and Greece as a country. We had an incredible experience on the Unexpected Athens tour with Andreas! He was an exceptional guide who brought the history of Greece and Athens to life in a way that was both fascinating and meaningful. Andreas was extremely knowledgeable and did an amazing job connecting the past to what we see in Athens today, helping us understand the culture, people, and stories behind the city. One of our favorite parts was seeing the “real” Athens beyond the typical tourist stops. Since we already planned to visit the major monuments on another day, this tour was the perfect way to get our bearings, learn the history, and truly understand the city before exploring further on our own. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had a much deeper appreciation for Athens and Greece as a whole, and we left with a great sense of the lay of the land. Andreas was engaging, personable, and made the entire experience fun. We learned so much while also having a wonderful time. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens, especially if you want to go beyond the highlights and experience the city through the eyes of someone who truly knows and loves it.

Fun and informative. Simos is an excellent guide and shared insights and perspectives into today’s Greece. I enjoyed our walking tour of various neighborhoods in Athens and hearing about their contribution to the city’s development. CMOS was attentive to the requests and questions of participants and worked hard to accommodate all our needs. I definitely recommend this tour.
