We had a great day trip . There was just ourselves ( my husband and I) with Francesco our driver . He was very pleasant and had excellent English . He drove us to the entrance to the old town of Altamura and advised us what to visit there . He returned to pick us up at the agreed time . We drove on to Matera . Francesco dropped us at the office where we had booked a TucTuc as it was exceptionally hot and we know there were a lot of steps and hills . It was a fascinating city .. well worth a trip . We enjoyed a lovely lunch and wandered around the streets until the agreed pick up time . It was a great day trip .

Perfect!
This tour provided enough time in both Matera and Altamura. It is NOT a guided tour, but allows you to wander and explore at your own pace. Driver, Gianluca, was knowledgeable, professional and personable. Beats the train, or driving a car by yourself. Highly recommend.

Self guided but with guided advice.
We enjoyed this as it was a small group and we had a guide but were mainly allowed to explore on our own which for us was perfect.
