It was a full day tour . Excellent value for money .Pedro is such a nice man , nothing was too much trouble . Impressive air conditioned van with our own seats . Don’t hesitate to book , wonderful opportunity to visit surrounding areas .
This was the first of three tours we were to take with Pedro. Picked up outside our apartment we drove out of Porto into the Minho region, with its lush green countryside, in NE Portugal, and the city of Braga was our first stop. It is the 3rd largest city in Portugal, settled by the Romans in1BC, and has the first cathedral erected in Portugal, before the country was founded. These credentials alone, make a return visit necessary, because there is so much history around you to see and absorb, but our host was more intent on introducing us to the local bakery and to sample the cakes and sweets and to enjoy a coffee; culturally more relevant than taking photos! The itinerary is an impressive one - the spectacular baroque staircase with 17 landings at the Bom Jesus Funicular and Sanctuary and the Roman bridge at Ponte de Lima, to list just two, but it is the lunch with unlimited vinho verde in a small corner of the latter town, which Pedro had ‘discovered,’ that provided the most authentic experience…with no tourists in sight! This tour is a wonderful introduction to northern Portugal by one of their best ambassadors! Susan & Graeme (Australia) 5*
Peidro was a fantastic guide and we loved the small group experience. We packed a lot into a 12 hour day
Pedro went above-and-beyond to ensure that our adventure was extraordinary. Best sights-to-see, best cuisine and best historical narrative. Highly recommend. We also enjoyed the Duoro Valley tour with Pedro. Thank you Pedro for the amazing memories!
Pedro is an amazing tour guide and was a great story teller. My husband and I learned so much and are muito appreciative of his time and patience with two Americans traveling in Portugal. ;)
we were assorted ages and all of us thought this was an experience not to be missed. Vehicle was immaculate and very comfortable.
We had the most amazing time touring the northern region of Portugal! Pedro introduced us to the region through informative and educated eyes. He taught us about the history of Portugal, wine and introduced us to local cuisine and treats (Romeo and Juliet). He went out of his way to extend our trip and take my daughter and I across the border to Spain so she was able to say she'd visited Spain. It was incredibly thoughtful of him to do so. Pedro made all the stops we asked (plus more) and was more than gracious with our and his time during the excursion! I can't recommend this tour enough! You will see Portugal through new eyes! Thank you Pedro!
Pedro was awesome. We got to Braga fairly early and were able to visit the sites while they were very uncrowded. We walked the stairs all the way up to the wonderful view at the top, then took the water funicular down the hill where Pedro met us with the van . He really packed a lot into the day, including a trip to a rural palace rarely visited by Americans. Charming lunch after walking over the Roman/medieval bridge over the Lima river. After poking our nose briefly into Spain, we drove down the coast. Stopped for a wonderful view of the river running into the Atlantic Ocean and made it back to our hotel by 7:30 in the evening. Pedro drove smoothly and safely, and gave great explanations of all the sites.
My partner and I, along with 2 other lovely visitors, were guided through Braga, Ponte de Lima, Viana do Castelo, and a surprise visit across the border and into Galicia, Spain. Pedro was informative, attentive, funny, and accommodating to the priorities and preferences of the group, even when traffic and local festivals managed to force some detours. We also shared an incredible family-style lunch in a restaurant in Arcos de Veldevez, where he acted like a host, helping to bring dish after dish of delicious regional cuisine. I would gladly recommend Pedro as well as this specific tour. This wonderfully green and friendly region of Minho is a little of the major tourism radar, but it shouldn't be. It's worth every moment you will spend here!
Having already enjoyed a fabulous day with Pedro marvelling at the Douro Valley, we knew this highly anticipated second trip was sure to be memorable too. We weren’t disappointed. The friendly welcome, immaculate and oh so comfortable Mercedes to ride in and Pedro’s local knowledge made for a perfect day. Don’t be put off by the steps to the Bom Jesus Sanctuary (though Pedro is sure to offer you an alternative if you can’t face them), the effort is worth it for the amazing view and the climb nowhere near as bad as it looks. Ponte de Lima was an unexpected gem and as we strolled over the bridge in the warm sunshine sorry that this would be our last day staying in Porto…but not before Pedro had found us another local restaurant to enjoy a traditional lunch. Whilst I may not be the biggest fan of tripe in any form, it was typically kind of Pedro to have sought it out as I had mentioned that it was my mum’s favourite. We did her proud! Knowing that we had an evening flight, Pedro kindly dropped two of us at the airport on the return journey to Porto but not before a blissful stop by the beach to soak up a little more of this beautiful area. Pedro is an exceptional guide and so generous in tailoring the tours to his visitors interests. I cannot recommend him highly enough and can’t wait to get the chance to return to Porto when we will certainly seek him out again.
