The trip was very informative about Rune Stones and the history of the Vikings. However, as the description of the tour mentioned visiting a traditional farm and having a ‘Fika’ break, we were quite disappointed when this did not happen as it was one of the main reasons we booked the trip. No explanation about the omission was given.
Unfortunately the farm was closed, which had to do with the heating system. In the beginning of January, is many places closed in Sweden. The guide tried to find another "fika-place" without succes, instead he took to other places. I am sorry for that Granby farm couldn't be part of the tour this time.
Very informative. We visited several sites which included rune stones, ruins and churches. Uppsala and Sigtuna were quiet beautiful towns and our guide Calle together with our driver Bianca were very friendly, approachable and informed! Calle was especially entertaining and engaging. If you're a history buff or a viking lore nerd, they will take you through the history of the viking age from start to end. Do not be shy and ask questions! They will surely have an answer for you.

Our guide did an amazing job of filling us in on the history of not only Sweden, but each place we visited- step by step. He didn’t overwhelm us, but just explained as we went, about each site we would see and why each one was built or likely in the place it was set (as in stones and burial mounds). It was a full day of exploration, but we were not exhausted at the end- just so thankful that we had gone! So much rich history to be seen.

This was a great experience! For anyone who is interested in Viking history, Highly recommend this tour. Urban was a great host, and an amazing tour guide, full of lots of great information that we would not otherwise have known. We saw quite a few runestones, and he explained a lot of the history of the Vikings in Sweden and other parts of Scandinavia. We saw Uppsala, had a Fika, and saw the beautiful countryside of Sweden. Urban was very considerate of all the passengers' needs, and he even went out of his way to find a bathroom for one of the people on the tour! It was amazing time!!!

This was an outstanding tour. Urban was extremely knowledgeable and was happy to share that knowledge. We learned all about the Vikings and what happened to them when Sweden became Catholic, and then how it became Lutheran in the 1500's with the Reformation. Ancient churches, rune stones, Viking burial mounds, and the beautiful Swedish forests and countryside. You get a real sense of the ancient history of the place as well as the countryside with its acres and acres of rolling wheat fields and red barns/houses. Highly recommended.
Thank you! I try my best to have a variation on my tours, show various types of attraction and drive on the scenic roads between Stockholm and Uppsala.
Regardless of the expense, this excursion delivered low value. The guide's description delivery was exceedingly verbose about much that was uninspiring to the point that some of the travellers completely ignored him. He droned on about picayune subjects and gave little of entertaining value. What I would deem of greater interest was sloughed off with little explanation and time allotted, e.g. burial mounds etc. Whereas, an inordinate amount of time was given explaining the intricate details of each and every rune that we saw. Sigtuna and Uppsala should have been allotted far more time and less on the runes. The speaker system within the small van was very poor. And, the fika offerings were miserly and a waste of time. I have been on dozens of Viator excursions around the world and this is the first negative one that I have written.
I am sorry to hear that I disappointed you on the Vikingtour. The tour is an historical tour which requires an interest of Viking history. I believe the tour was well described on Viators list on tours in Stockholm. My tour includes seven stops and I distribute the time between them. The excursion is long and we travel all together 250 km. each stop therefore has to be at least 30 minutes. The program is based on Vikings and the historical landmarks we have after them in the areas around Stockholm. My experience is that my guests have been pleased with that, look at other reviews. For me it seems I had bothered you personally in some way, which made you write this negative review. You are also writing on the behalf of other guest as well, which is unfair. Describes of rune stones: In a professional way I do describe rune stones, translate texts and explain the meaning of them. In total 95% of my guest are very happy with that. The same is it for the burial mounds. Now we are talking about the two most important landmarks, which we have in this region. Fika: I am sorry that the fika did not come up to your expected level. Most of my guest sees this break on a farm with an included "fika" as one of the highlights. Sigtuna: The stop gives the guest one hour of free time + 20 minutes of guiding. Old Uppsala: My descriptions of the mounds linked to the Nordic mythology, many see as the highlight of the tour. Uppsala: The guiding of the cathedral of Uppsala is one of the most professional you can get. On the way from enter Uppsala to the van leave. I do give bus guiding. The van: It has 15 seats and on that particular tour 8 were occupied. You can walk straight up in the van and it equipped with AC and heater system. The van also has audio system. No other company on these types of tours offer that. I have been told by many guests that this was one of the best day tours they have done. Please look at the description of tours before you buy it. Private tours can always be arranged by some companies, which adjust to personal requests.
