Danyk was an exceptional host. Very knowledgeable about the food and the culture which we loved. The back streets tour is the best way to experience Osaka like a local at very hip and unique places. Would 10/10 recommend this tour and guide!

I can’t express enough how exceptional the Osaka food tour was for the three of us. Our guide, Paul, was not only fun and charismatic but also knowledgeable about every place we visited. He was full of interesting stories and fun city knowledge. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Every stop on the tour was phenomenal, both the food and the drinks. Paul asked for preferences and made sure to accommodate everyone along the way. For me, there wasn’t a single dish, drink, or establishment that disappointed me in any way. It was great to visit small bars that I would have never known existed and everything felt uniquely Osaka. I left full and happy, both with the value and the quality companionship. Ultimately this tour was even better than I could have hoped. Great food, great drink, and great conversation all made this one of the most memorable events throughout my time in Osaka. I would highly recommend the tour to everyone without question. In fact, we are hoping that we may be lucky enough to have another tour one day in Osaka with Paul again. We will hold this memory with us forever. Thank you so much.

Paul made our Taste Osaka tour one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip. From the beginning, Paul immediately clicked with our group of four. It honestly felt less like we were meeting a tour guide and more like catching up with an old friend who just happened to know Osaka inside and out. The atmosphere was relaxed, funny, and natural from the start. The food was outstanding. Paul took us through Osaka’s backstreets and introduced us to a great variety of the city’s staple dishes, and everything we tried was both delicious and unique. What really impressed us, though, was how well he adapted the evening based on our conversations. At one point I mentioned that I had been surprised by the lack of craft beer during our trip, and before we knew it, Paul had worked a fantastic standing bar with Osaka craft beer into our night. Even better, the bartender had studied English in New Orleans, where one member of our group is from, and the two immediately hit it off. It was one of those spontaneous moments you simply CANNOT plan. Paul’s fluency in Japanese also made a huge difference. He was able to get us into restaurants and bars that we likely would have had a much harder time accessing on our own, and he handled all the ordering and communication seamlessly. Because of that, we got to experience places, food, and interactions that felt far more local and authentic than anything we could have arranged ourselves. This tour genuinely made our Osaka stay. By the end of the night, we all wished we had booked more time in Osaka to explore more of Paul’s and Taste Osaka’s recommendations. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Osaka beyond the obvious tourist spots, eat incredible local food, explore the backstreets, and spend the evening with a guide who feels more like a friend than a tour leader.

We were not really sure what to expect when we headed out. However Kevin our guide was very friendly, had excellent local knowledge and made the evening relaxed and very enjoyable. We were offered huge variety of local dishes and beverages in a collection of very different venues. Great chat and interaction with Kevin and the other guests. An all round blast of the senses.

Kevin was an extremely engaging guide, and this was an awesome way to experience the traditional dishes and drinks that Osaka is known for in venues that I would not have discovered on my own.

This was such an incredible Food and Culture Tour. Our tour guide, Yukina, was so friendly. She made our whole group feel like we were all friends right from the start. We ate well, we drank well, we laughed and we learned a lot about the food culture of Osaka. 10/10 this was so much fun!

We did this tour with Yukina a few weeks ago. It was incredible! She took us to so many cool places. We went to a shop selling local sake that was filled with locals, and met the creators of the sake. She knew all the owners of all the places we went. We had delicious okonomiyaki and takoyaki, two Osaka foods from my list. And after I told Yukina that I loved whiskey, she took us to the *coolest* tiny whiskey bar in this little alley. She acted as our interpreter when talking to the owner/bartender, and he did a little whiskey tasting just for us. This was one of our favorite experiences of our entire trip, and we never would have had it without Yukina. Can’t recommend enough!

My daughter and I had an amazing time on the Osaka Backstreet Nightlife and Street Food Walking Tour! Our guide was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about Osaka. We loved exploring the lively streets and hidden back alleys while sampling delicious local food and drinks along the way. It was a fun, authentic experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the real Osaka!

Basking in the post vacation high I keep thinking about Osaka and am so thankful to Kevin for finding the coolest and most unique spots for us to eat and drink. The food, drinks, and anecdotes from Kevin made us feel satisfied and welcomed to the best city in Japan. Book this tour!!

Book this tour. Kevin (who works on Wednesdays, I expect you’ll likely get him if you book on a Weds) was an absolute pleasure. Even if we don’t get to come back to Japan as much as we like, we’ll be making sure to get back in touch with him whenever we pass through Osaka. Great food spots and choices, excellent knowledge of the area and superb chat. We feel like we’ve made a friend as well as had great fun on a tour. You’ll get to tick off your Osakan classic dishes on the tour. However, it sounds like there might be some flexibility if you need it. We asked if it was cool to get a drink between spot 2 and 3, and it was no problem at all. If you like a nice hole in a wall bar and a drink, this tour will be perfect for you. Do be prepared to do just that though - we hung out with Kevin well after the tour ended and it’s safe to say we were very jolly by the time we got back to our hotel.
