Banganga tour
What a fascinating morning in Banganga with Jimmy. He was a wealth of information about the history and spiritual meaning of this area. We visited many temples and walked around the tank and really got a taste of the culture of this part of Mumbai. Jimmy was professional and very pleasant to spend time with.

Wonderful walk
I had a great time during the Sacred Banganga walk. Mr Chetan is an excellent guide with a very interesting and engaging way of narrating stories.
This KHAKI walk is an amalgamation of history, mythology and spirituality.

Superb walk!
We had an excellent experience. Our guide, Mr. Jimmy Shroff, from Khaki tours with his amazing narration took us through the history of the sacred banganga and the surrounding temples. Mystical walk. This was my third walk with Khaki tours and I have become a fan now. Highly recommended experience.

Discovering Banganga Tank
A lovely and very interesting walk! As a foreign visitor, I really enjoyed learning about Hindu mythology, the gods and the history and traditions of the area. Roar! there's even a Tiger on this tour (no spoiler alert allowed)
Was super lucky to be the only one booked on the Sacred Banganga tour which I suppose is always on a late afternoon, Sunday. My tour host from Khaki was the congenial Mr Warrier who took great pride and pleasure showing me around. Note this is not a senior friendly tour and since the focus is temples, religion and mythology, it's best to cover up and not show skin. There was a light drizzle doing its thing as we made our way past narrow alleyways, soaking in some distinct styles of temple architecture and samadhis, en route to the sanctum sanctorum which is the Banganga Tank. The tour lasts about 2.5 hours and having Mr Warrier around made it seem like a walk in the park. He is as fine a raconteur as they come peppering his commentary on history, art & architecture, Hindustani classical music and Indian mythology with personal anecdotes his own on religiosity and life etc. Although a devout practising Hindu myself, in some ways I can seem as Hindu as vindaloo to most appearances; not knowing the basics of mythology and tales from folklore. Mr Warrier was gracious to handhold me into navigating the A to Z of Hindu mythology so that I came out not feeling completely wet behind the ears. There must easily have been over 500 small temples skirting the periphery of the Banganga tank but we made a quick stop at just the one temple. So yes, this isn't a temple hopping tour, after all. This tour is a fabulous way of getting to know the religious/ mythological side of your neighborhood, if you are a Mumbaikar and a great primer for initiation into the world of Indian mythology, ancient architecture and the history of religion for Indophiles everywhere.

P.S. You will be very well served knowing your coordinates around this part of town. I had Kamla Nehru park / the Hanging Gardens bus stop mistaken for the Walkeshwar bus depot which is also the start off point for this tour, and located at the bottom of the hill near the Governor's mansion.
