We had the absolute pleasure of spending a day with our wonderful driver and tour guide, Michael, on a trip from London to Highclere Castle, and it was truly one of the highlights of our time in England. From the moment we set off, it was clear we were in the hands of someone who not only knows the roads inside out but also has a genuine passion for the places we visited. The journey itself was smooth, comfortable and full of interesting stories and insights about London, the countryside and the history of Highclere Castle. His knowledge of Downton Abbey, the real-life history of the estate, and the surrounding area was impressive — he answered every question with warmth and depth, never making anything feel rushed or rehearsed. What really stood out was how personable and attentive he was throughout the day. He made excellent recommendations, timed everything perfectly, and created such a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
