Great day! My wife and I are Downton Abbey 'geeks' so this was really special for us. Our guide was funny and informative. We had plenty of time at Highclere to explore the grounds after visiting the house. A bucket item checked off for us!

We traveled to Highclere Castle and Bampton Village on a small-group tour from London. Both locations were interesting, but I was disappointed to learn that an extra cost would apply to visit the basement exhibit at Highclere where the Egyptian artifacts are housed. I would recommend doing this excursion on your own (if you have transportation) or booking a private tour, which not cost much more than the group tour.

Rory was a great guide and Andy was a great driver. They really helped elevate our experience. The entire experience was lovely. Highly recommend!

Fun tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and did very well dealing with a no it all tour attendee. Love to see the castle and the village must do if you’re a Downton Abbey fan.

The bus was a little uncomfortable, but other than that, no issues at all. The tour of the grounds & house was very enjoyable.

The Downton Abbey tour is a must do if you’re a fan of the show and our guide Russell was amazing. His deep knowledge of the sites enriched our experience. He’s also very funny! Thank you Russell for a great day!

Chris was fun and informative. Just as anticipated, the house was as familiar as my own! The guides in the house were friendly and knowledgeable. It was well worth the time and money if you are a fan.

A dream and a bucket list destination achieved! I wanted to see both Bampton and Highclere Castle, so I booked this tour. It was Tuesday, September 1, and on that perfect weather day, I joined 15 others (and our guide Rory and driver Tony) for this tour. The small bus was perfect, it had both USB and the USB-C charging ports in each seatback, which was perfect for me. A smooth drive out to Bampton with a stop there for Downton Village scenery and to see the actual gorgeous village where people live, was a real hit. I relived the scenes that came to mind, bought some cookies at the gift shop (The Downton Hospital) and took some pictures of the major landmarks. Then off to Highclere! Oh my God, I am there, was all I could think when we pulled up and parked. The house, grounds, and flag flapping in the breeze, perfect! There weren't as many people, our designated house tour tickets were for 2:30 pm. But we got right in as there was no queue. Our group was the queue at that point. It was a cool breeze when the windows were open so that was a big help I did get warm and at one point, hot, but then I caught that nice breeze. The house itself is smaller in person on the inside and even outside, but that's camera effects. It didn't deter me from being my own happy person in an iconic place. I loved everything about it. I liked the storyboards placed in rooms to help recall the placement of filming. I took my time to soak it up. I now understand why pictures are not allowed: nobody would ever leave! Had I taken pictures I would have forgotten to "live" the moment. That rule allowed me to be present, and I am so glad I was. I visited the gardens and found the statue of for the flyers, a very touching space. On the way out if the castle property, Rory put in the DVD of S1E1, the pilot episode, and played that on the 90 minute drive back to London. In hindsight, I think I agree that the episode had to be played afterwards, as a reminder. Playing it on the way out would have gotten in the way of our private thoughts and expectations of what was to come. The episode solidified the end of the perfect day. I would absolutely endorse all to sign up for this tour. It wasn't rushed but we had a schedule, and we were all mindful on it and promptly returned when requested.
