I had heard good things about it, but the surprise exceeded expectations. The site is majestic. The view of the Turin plain with the Alps in the background is breathtaking.
The basilica is magnificent. Its dome is simply incredible. The visit to the crypt where the Dukes of Savoy rest is very interesting, even though the guide only spoke Italian. The memorial to the tragedy of the Torino team (behind the basilica) is moving. It is truly worth the detour.

Stunning place and breathtaking view
We were here on Monday, 11/05/26, and at 3:30 PM the guided tour led by a volunteer of the royal apartments and the Royal Tombs began. The explanations were thorough, and we thank the well-prepared volunteer Roberto, but we would also like to suggest that he focus on the essential points to avoid boring the attendees with dozens of dates and names that one forgets after 5 minutes. The Basilica of Superga was built at the behest of Duke Vittorio Amedeo II, following a vow made to the Madonna delle Grazie in 1706, during the siege by the Franco-Spanish in Piedmont. Its construction is attributed to Filippo Juvarra, a Messinese architect of the House of Savoy. The baroque complex, inaugurated in 1731, is 75 meters high, 51 meters long, and is located at 672 m above sea level. Its interior is enriched with six chapels and four altars, in addition to the Main Altar, with statues and monuments made of Carrara marble. Of particular interest are the numerous altarpieces and the dome, inspired by the Roman works of Francesco Borromini. In the Chapel of the Vow, inside the Basilica, there is a wooden statue of the Madonna delle Grazie from the 17th century, the same one to whom Vittorio Amedeo II turned to win the battle. Beneath the Basilica are the Royal Tombs, above the Royal Apartments, and one can ascend to the dome via the 131 spiral steps to admire Turin and the Alps. At the back, there is the memorial to the Grande Torino: in 1949, the plane that was bringing them home crashed against the wall of the Basilica. Highly recommended visit.

Too bad about the driving
Yesterday I booked a guided tour of the Tombs and Apartments at the basilica.
Unfortunately the guide was Mrs. Clelia. Unfortunately because I didn't see anything, the lady went highly off topic, explaining anecdotes really not inherent and sometimes inaccurate.
The lady was not able to manage the 45 minutes of visit planned and, as a result, the visit lasted longer than expected, but without giving people a chance to see what might be of interest. You get lost for endless minutes in front of something, listening to her talking, or questioning people.
I had already visited the Tombs with another guide, fortunately, and expected to hear those interesting explanations, and instead, nothing.

It's funny.
The basilica is located in a lovely place, ideal for a few hours of relaxation. The visit of the crypt accompanied by a guide is very interesting for details about Savoy house.

Beautiful basilica and splendid view
Beautiful basilica with splendid views of Turin and the Alps.
Too bad the visit to the crypt was only possible in Italian, even if an explanatory brochure was provided.

Superga and Torino
From the top of the hill, if helped by a clear sky, view over Turin from the most majestic church in the city.
Altars dedicated to the most important saints for city history together with St. Charles Borromeo thanks to which the Shroud returned to Italy.
Very interesting the route to the royal tombs enriched by the story of our guide.
A commemorative visit in memory of the unfortunate Grenadier team cannot be missed.

Sumptuous
Beautiful basilica. Breathtaking.
He's really having it done. So it's not free for sure, but you really have to visit it. The catacombs too. However, still no French guide. Good thing I had my translator or I couldn't follow the story.
You'd rather drive there than take a cable car. Turin is an insecure city and the car park of the funicular clearly indicates that there are often thefts.

Excellent guided tour of the royal tombs. Staff at the ticket office very courteous. Access to the Basilica and Chapel of Vow well organized.
