Me and a friend booked the Rakia tasting as an easy evening out. It was a 30 minute easy walk from Belgrade old town. Stefan greeted us at the door and even though we had assumed it would be a group tasting it was actually a private event. He sat with us and gave us an in depth history of Rakia and his families restaurant. There was 40+ types to try but he provided us a bespoke tasting sessions once he learned our likes. We gave us a tour of the building and it really felt like you was visiting a new friends home. He was very proud of what his dad had achieved. After 6 half glasses of rakia and 2 grazing boards the tasting had finished and we asked for recommendations for dinner from the menu. He suggested the lamb roast (stew) which was amazing, best lamb ive ever had. It was paired with a wonderful Serbian red wine! The only thing that let the night down was the live music, they only did 2 songs and then once the large table of locals had left they stopped. This is a shame as we choose this specific site for tasting as they advertised live traditional band on a saturday.
If you want an authentic taste of local culture, this Rakija tasting is an absolute must-do. Stevan is an incredible host - knowledgeable, passionate, and welcoming. He didn't just serve us drinks; he shared the fascinating history and tradition behind every single sip, making the whole evening both educational and incredibly fun.
We had such an incredible time on this tour—truly one of the highlights of our trip! Steven was an absolutely fantastic host from start to finish. His knowledge, passion, and genuine enthusiasm made the entire experience engaging, fun, and memorable. He took the time to explain everything in a way that was both informative and personal, adding stories and insights you simply wouldn’t get on your own. You can tell he really cares about what he does and wants everyone to have a great time. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and Steven made sure everyone felt comfortable and included. The pacing was perfect, and everything was exceptionally well organized. If you're considering this tour, don’t hesitate—especially if you get Steven as your host. He truly elevates the whole experience. Highly, highly recommend!
