My wife and I decided to go with the sandbar cruise as a way to get out on the water and it did not disappoint. Captain Dawn and First Mate Brandon are a great team. Departure went smoothly (do your waiver online ahead of arrival) and instructions were thorough yet had some anecdotal commentary to keep them interesting. Our group had a 10-person ladies only group and 2 couples including us. The crew did a great job of balancing that while staying engaged with everyone. We’ve spent plenty of time in the Virgin Islands and this experience was better than those. Relaxing, sand was perfect, and they shared more information than necessary about the local area as well as their personal endeavor to protect nature in the region.

The sandbar cruise was one of the best experiences on our trip to the keys!

Sara and Capt Jason were amazing on the Summer Time! They know the area like the back of their hands - it’s the season for sargassum so they made sure to take us to a sandbar where it was not. Bring sunscreen and a towel, sit back and enjoy. Highly recommend!

The boat is custom built, brand new & beautiful. Captain Jason & First Mate Natalie were so knowledgeable & awesome. They made us always feel welcome & safe during our trip. As expected the sandbar had seaweed but Jason was honest and offered us an alternative clear water experience. Overall this tour was the highlight of our vacation.

My family and I booked a private ride during our vacation and couldn’t have had a better experience. Captain Jason and Sarah showed us such a great time. They provided sandwiches and drinks and a cooler for our byob. It was a clean beautiful boat and they had great toys for us and our boys to enjoy the ocean with. We hope to book again when we come back in town!

The boat itself was beautiful, and the ride out to the sandbar was enjoyable. The crew was friendly, welcoming, and worked hard to make guests feel comfortable throughout the excursion. Unfortunately, the condition of the sandbar was extremely disappointing. I understand that the tour company cannot control the presence of sargassum or natural environmental conditions. However, considering the amount of money we paid for this excursion, the condition of the destination should have been communicated to guests before departure. What made this even more frustrating was that the captain told us the sandbar looked the same the day before, indicating that the company was already aware of the conditions before our trip departed. Had guests been informed in advance, we could have made an informed decision about whether to proceed with the excursion. The water and beach conditions were so poor that no one from the crew entered the water, and many guests seemed reluctant to do so as well. Most people used the paddleboards simply as transportation to reach the sandbar rather than for recreation. There were dead fish scattered throughout the area and even a dead shark on the beach. The overall environment was unpleasant and not at all what was advertised or expected. Had we been informed beforehand, the company could have offered guests the option to reschedule, choose a different excursion, or receive a refund. Instead, we only discovered the conditions after arriving at the site. As someone who comes from a tourist town, I understand that these businesses depend on tourism and that environmental conditions can be unpredictable. However, in this case, the excursion should have been canceled or guests should have been given alternative options before sailing. While the boat and crew were excellent, the destination itself made for a very disappointing experience.

This excursion was a great way to spend an afternoon. The ride out and back takes you through quiet waters where you might spot wildlife such as dolphins and manatees. You get about 2 hours to enjoy the sandbar. Island Girl provides floats, paddle boards, etc for your time in the water. Bring your towels, drinks of your choice (water and soda provided), and the sunscreen! There were not bathroom facilities (that I saw) at the dock, but Sombrero Beach is 5 minutes down the road, if you’re needing to change before or after your trip. Enjoy!

Beautiful new boat with a friendly staff. Everything included: water, noodles, snacks, even sandwiches were served! We are locals without a boat and this option for us to go to the sandbar in Marathon is one we will do again! Note that there is a minimum amount of people they need to run the cruise, if they don't have it, they will cancel. Thankfully, they had last minute sign ups or we would have not gone out.

I would have liked if they pulled right onto the sandbar and set up a ramp for passengers getting on and off the vessel. Instead of having to jump in. Also have to climb the ladder to get back on board. That takes a lot of strength! Be prepared. The music was way too loud on the return trip. Even after I asked the captain to turn it down a little.
