We had an absolutely amazing experience. Joao is an excellent guide - very knowledgable, professional and lots of fun. I suffer from vertigo and so was a bit nervous to do the hike, but I have no regrets. Being with such a professional guide transmitted safety and security. The walk itself is spectacular - we take the old walking path between the two villages of Machico and Porto da Cruz. Although it is a coastal walk the views are magnificent with steep cliff sides and wild vegetation. We started the walk in the farmlands on the south coast and crossed over to the north coast. The views are dramatic and the photo opportunities fantastic. I really enjoyed this walk and would repeat it again. The great thing was that it was definitely off the beaten track and there were no tourist crowds like at other key hikes. We met a few lone hikers but otherwise we had the whole walk to ourselves. I would definitely recommend it and definitely recommend Joao. A 5 star experience through and through from start to finish

Lovely hike with great views and a peaceful atmosphere. The trail was enjoyable and not too difficult—perfect for a relaxing outdoor experience. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommended!

I had an amazing experience on the Larano coastal walk. The trail is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views along the cliffs by the sea. I was also lucky to have great weather, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The guide was excellent. very knowledgeable, friendly, and always attentive. I had considered doing this hike on my own, but I’m really glad I went with a guide. While the trail is not particularly dangerous, it does require some caution and awareness of the terrain.
