Absolutely amazing day. Picked up at 4am from our hotel which is hard work but 100% worth it and driven by minibus to Luxor (worth noting that chilled bottles of water on the minibus where included and very welcome). Picked up our guide Yassin on the way who was incredibly knowledgeable and his grasp of both English and German was second to none, I wish I had his contact details to thank him again. Went off to the Karnak temple where we had a brief history lesson from Yassin and then a tour with time to go off on our own to explore and take photos. Afterwards we where taken for a 30 minute boat trip on the Nile which was fantastic with lunch afterwards at a local restaurant before moving on to the colossus of Memnon and the Tenole of Hapshetsut, again Yassin was on hand with a short but informative history lesson before we went off to explore and finally off to the valley of the kings for a look around 3 tombs. This was an absolutely epic day, not least because of the guide, the driver of the mini bus and the backup of the operator Red Dragon Tours. Things to be aware of; 40 degree heat in the valley of the kings is more intense than you think, dress appropriately and bring extra water. Bring change, the toilet are chargeable everywhere and the locals do not plan on giving you change. There will be people everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE) trying to sell you things, a firm no does the trick but be prepared for it. All in all I cannot recommend the trip enough, worth every penny but be prepared.
