Wow, this was an incredible experience. I am still in awe of how beautiful Gatura greens farm is. Everything from beginning to end was amazing. I was also happy to know that it is Kenyan and black owned. I almost did the popular Kiambethu tea farm but I am so glad I went with Gatura greens instead. The driver who picked me up, his name is Charles or Charlo by nick name. He was such a sweet and personable guy and he was just amazing. I felt totally safe and I totally enjoyed his company. We had great conversations on the rides to the tea farm and we also had an amazing time at the tea farm and also an amazing time coming back. The tea farm was absolutely spectacular. The views are incredible. I learned how to make purple tea from scratch, how to pick the tea, roast it and I will never see a teabag the same way again because this was really eye-opening to learn how the different types of teas from green tea to black tea, to purple tea, and all of types of teas are made and all of the benefits of drinking the them was just amazing. My guide at the tea farm was Lucy. Lucy is kenyan, and it was lovely learning tea from the perspective of someone who is a local. She was so sweet, so passionate about tea and just a bubbly and beautiful personality. I enjoyed doing the tour with her and I really enjoyed taking the bamboo hike into the bamboo forest and also to the waterfall and also the chef Francis is incredible. He is also Kenyan. He made the most delicious 4 course lunch I’ve ever had in my life and all of that is infused with the tea and everything was delicious. It was just amazing. The food is great, love it. Honestly, this is one of the best days I’ve ever had in terms of a tour experience in Kenya. Money well spent and I am so happy that I supported a Kenyan and black owned business. Make sure you go visit this Gatura farm. This is 10 out of 10. I recommend this tea farm.
