As someone who has done quite a number of tours, If you book a trip through Viator, you usually know what you’re getting - a memorized script with contrived jokes getting us from place A to B. What I got from this experience was incredible - a local Egyptologist who truly loves his history customizing everything to our needs. We did a private tour and every single moment of the trip made me wonder how different tours could be. At one moment one of my travel companions asked to stop for ice cream, from that day on they made sure ice cream was available for us in the car. Any question I had about history would be answered with insights I never realized, knowledge that clearly demonstrates true love for what we came to see, knowledge that inspires you to see Ancient Egypt in an astonishingly new way. One of my favorite experiences was the boat tour of the Nile. We got fresh tea while watching the sunset in a magical Luxor, all while being cared for by a team that really love their jobs. As odd as this sounds, I felt like I was part of their family by how much they took care of me. At one point I mentioned how I got only an hour of sleep, and they made sure to ensure I had nap time during the day 🥹 If you pay for a tour - do you learn things? Yes If you go for -this- tour - will you leave astonished by what you see, feeling spoiled, and really understanding Arab generosity? 1000% I am going to recommend this tour to all family and friends who are planning to visit Egypt! They really customized everything based on your travel time and what you need. In just 1.5 days we did the following: - Luxor Temple - with explanation of the four religions - Karnak Temple - explaining the long history that made this place with amazing photos - Valley of Kings - where a number of Late King pharaohs are buried - Valley of Queens - got to see queens + princes - Hetsepshut Temple - Temple belonging to an ancient Egyptian queen - we got to learn how she navigated this when Ancient Egyptian society didn’t permit female rulers - Nile River cruise - one of the most amazing evening cruises of my life - pure magic - Balloon ride over Valley of Kings - the guide on this tour would Lower the balloon so we could get unbelievably close to temples from above, while also rising high enough to ensure panoramic pictures.
