When we travel in Italy or around the world, my partner and I often book bike tours. And among the many experiences we have had around the world, the one yesterday starting from Città di Castello with an itinerary that began along the Tiber, to reach Citerna and Anghiari, was one of the most beautiful. Usually these bike tours are pleasant, but not very informative; they end up being simple bicycle rides. Instead, Federico, our cycling-nature guide, made the tour a memorable experience. Already at the office, he explained everything in detail, from the use of the bikes to the route we would take; he provided us with water and suggested we lighten our backpacks, leaving superfluous things at the office (wise advice!). During the journey, then, he told us about historical events, tobacco plantations, and much more, with lightness, friendliness, and a right balance between explanations and time to enjoy the silence and the beauty of the landscapes. He warned us in advance of every challenging climb, where with the help of the turbo function of the bikes, everything became more fun and doable. There was time for coffee, gelato, and bathroom breaks; as well as to visit the underground of Citerna, where large ancient cisterns are preserved, and then, also for a nice walk through the alleys of Anghiari. We also appreciated that Federico dedicated extra time to us, extending the tour by about an hour, to let us enjoy everything in a relaxed way. Thank you Federico!
