We were unable to ride horses. We were simply allowed to mount them, while two people on foot pulled on a rope attached to the harness. The least they could have done was assess our level and, based on that, allow us to ride independently or teach us. The guide did not accompany us. Instead, we had two Indian workers who barely spoke English, certainly not French, and whose only role was to pull the horses while preventing us from touching the harnesses. No helmets or any other safety measures. A short ride of not even an hour in total. We will not return. P.S.: The organizers, a couple, were very nice, yes, but clearly they had other priorities than providing us with the activity we had paid for.
Very friendly and authentic experience! The woman who owns the house gave us free wine, cheese, and crackers. And the horses were so cool! Beautiful ride through the countryside.
We had a great experience! Beautiful family farm, gracious hosts, gorgeous scenery and the horses were meticulously cared for with pride. Best trail ride I’ve ever experienced.
Fantastic hosts who gave us the full experience of horse riding though the Tuscan Vineyards!
This was perfect, not only was it a dream come true to horse back ride through a vineyard, but the farm itself is gorgeous and there are so many animals around, cows, donkeys, dogs and more.
Above expectations Warm and nice
David and his wife were the most gracious hosts my wife and I have ever seen abroad. This was a very intimate look into Tuscan Family Life - on a gorgeous, rural farm. We’re from rural Illinois, so we fell in love with their work ethic and craftsmanship with everything they do. They are beekeepers, truffle hunters, and masters at self sustaining farming. My wife wants to come back and work on the property for a week or so to learn more about their vegetation and animal care. Anyways, the horseback riding was incredible and the farm dog, Leo, happily leads the way as he’s done thousands of times. The horses are calm and very nice creatures. I’ve never been on a horse and was comfortable and enjoyed my time on Luminosa very much. We’ll be back. Montepulciano has a place in our hearts forever. We travel Italy often and recommend this town and horseback experience above everything else. Thank you! -Kyle & Abi
Our experience with Tuscany Horse Trekking in Montepulciano was truly the highlight of our trip. The host and his family were incredibly welcoming, warm, and funny from the moment we arrived. They took time to make sure everyone felt comfortable and safe on the horses, and their knowledge and easygoing nature made the entire experience feel relaxed and enjoyable rather than rushed or formal. The ride itself was unforgettable - beautiful trails through the Tuscan countryside with sweeping views of vineyards, farms, and rolling hills. The horses were gentle, well-trained, and clearly well cared for, and the staff was attentive and supportive throughout the trek. After the ride, we were welcomed into their home for wine, cheese, and cake, which made the experience feel even more personal and authentic. We shared lovely conversations about their family, the property, and the local area, which added so much depth to the day. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tuscany.
There were three of us who went out on horses and walked through the vineyards and saw the beautiful landscapes and city. I had hoped for a guide who would tell us about the area and the vineyards as we walkes, but they did not speak the best English and were there mainly to keep us safe on the horses. It was a nice ride and a stunning area. After, they gave us cheese and a glass of delicious wine which we ended up buying two bottles. There was another group there making ricotta so the owner’s mother-in-law gave us some and it was the best treat of my entire trip. I wish the owner had more time to sit and talk, but we did get the nice ride and got to see the animals close-up on this beautiful farm.
Wonderful adventure. The staff walks you through the vineyards while you are on the horse. We were surprised to find Clydesdales. The big horse makes you look smaller in pictures. lol. The staff was very kind and the host, Nonna was so sweet and gracious.
