This is a must do when in Lima, especially if on a short trip. This is the largest archaeological site in Peru and was conquered and inhabited by the Incas. Larger than Machu Picchu! Our guide Manuel was excellent and full of knowledge. He explained how the timeline of the different civilizations that lived here were different and of importance. We stopped in Barraco as well to visit the plaza and artist works.

Climbing up to some of the viewpoints was definitely worth it—the scenery overlooking the valley and the Pacific Ocean is stunning. Be prepared for some walking under the sun, so bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. A highly recommended experience for travelers looking for culture, history, and amazing views all in one place!

We visited Pachacamac and it was one of the best experiences of our trip to Lima. Everything was very well organized, from the punctual hotel pickup to every detail throughout the tour. The archaeological site is truly impressive, full of history and offering amazing views. What really made the difference was our guide, Giovanny from Lima Excursions. His knowledge, passion, and way of explaining brought everything to life. He not only has a deep understanding of the history, but also makes sure everyone feels comfortable and enjoys the experience to the fullest. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you have the chance to do it with Giovanny. Definitely an experience worth it and one I would gladly repeat.

The guide for the tour was good, but I was frustrated with the lack of communication before the visit - we were told we would get a private tour with pickup from the cruise port, but the operator changed the pick-up area, and modified it to a group tour without advising. We were only told when I asked to confirm the specifics for the pick up location. Pick-up was late, and the drop off after the tour was later than expected, again, with very little communication. The drop-off time was mainly due to traffic, so be aware of the impact that might have if you have other plans.

Visiting Pachacamac was a wonderful experience and a perfect way to discover ancient Peruvian history. The temples and the desert landscape around the site make the visit very unique. The tour was well organized and informative, making it a great option for anyone visiting Lima who wants to explore something beyond the city. Highly recommended!
