We had wonderful excursion, we saw a lot of dolphins, the captain was super amazing

We actually booked this excursion pretty last minute through Viator, and I’m SO glad we did! We specifically wanted a half-day excursion so we could still come back to our hotel and relax, but we also didn’t want to spend a fortune. Our hotel offered a similar excursion for nearly 5x the price, so we decided to look at other options and found this one. We were picked up around 8:00 AM and drove about 30 minutes to the meeting point before heading out for snorkeling around Mnemba Island and swimming with wild dolphins. And when I say wild dolphins, I mean WILD dolphins — this is nothing like the typical dolphin swim experience you might find in Mexico or the Caribbean. Originally, we were supposed to swim with the dolphins first, but there were so many boats around them that morning that our captain decided to take us snorkeling first and come back later. That decision was a total game changer! When we returned, there were only about 2–3 other boats around. Swimming with the dolphins was such a fun and crazy experience. As soon as the captain spotted a pod, it was basically, “GO, GO, GO!” and everyone would jump into the water. 😂 We were swimming just 5–10 feet away from the dolphins at times, and sometimes they came even closer. Seeing them swimming freely in the wild right next to us was something I’ll never forget. The snorkeling was also beautiful. The water around Mnemba is absolutely incredible — so clear, with super soft sand and tons of fish. Even the boat ride back was enjoyable. We just sat back, felt the ocean breeze, and took in the gorgeous views. One thing I especially appreciated was the transportation. Instead of bringing everyone back to the original meeting point afterward, they dropped each group directly back at their hotel. After a morning on the water, it was so nice not having to deal with another transfer or arrange transportation ourselves. We were back at our hotel around 1:30 PM, so it truly was the perfect half-day experience. I’ll admit I was a little hesitant when I booked because they only had around 14 reviews on Viator. I reached out beforehand and was able to communicate directly with the operator, who explained that their previous account had been hacked and they had to start over with a new listing. The communication made me feel much more comfortable booking, and I’m so glad we went through with it. For what we paid compared with the price offered through our hotel, I thought this excursion was an incredible value. I’m also a travel agent, so I experience excursions not only as a traveler but with my clients in mind. This is absolutely an experience I would recommend to my clients visiting Zanzibar, especially anyone looking for a memorable experience that doesn’t take up their entire day or come with the price tag of some of the resort excursions. Such an incredible experience and easily one of the highlights of our time in Zanzibar!

Excellent dolphin watching/swimming excursion- we saw dolphins 3 times! The guide and captain were excellent and safe at all times, they even helped assist us when needed, felt very safe! stopping at Mnemba island was nice although be prepared for a flock of sellers trying to get you to buy coconuts/photos with monkeys etc as soon as you get off the boat into the water! The snorkeling was great too, we saw loads of beautiful fish!

The best part of the activity was the snorkeling, since the water was very clear and there were plenty of different types of fishes. Mnemba island was very beautiful, but unfortunately we were there just for 15-20 minutes, we would have liked to stay for a bit longer. On the other hand, the dolphin part was much longer than we expected, since it lasted for much longer than the rest of the activities of the day.

We had an excellent time at Mnemba Island in Zanzibar! Crystal-clear turquoise waters, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable moments made it a truly amazing experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tropical paradise!

The guide was very experienced and showed us a lot of dolphins. Although the weather wasn't very good on the day, the overall trip was well organised and we stopped at the beach and ate very sweet and fresh fruit.
