Our beautiful French artist/teacher (Agata) welcomed us into her home for this tile making experience. She was very knowledgeable about the origins of each style of tile design, and the country’s influence on the styles of each flower, line, shape, etc.
she was a joy to coach us. We were offered coffee, tea, and treats. We had a great time and LOVE our finished tiles.
We highly recommend this class, and would love to repeat the experience if ever in Lisbon again.

Not what we wxpected
First, the location was a bit confusing as we were expecting a store front, but the host responded immediately to our inquiry and we were able to quickly find her studio.
Water, tea, and coffee were offered during our time.
The instructor discussed tile history and the process of making the design.
It was confusing and no one within the six attendees appeared to understand and just started creating their own. Once finished, the instructor would make recommendations of additional designs.
We enjoyed the painting part of the process. It was fun getting to choose your own colors and seeing what colors other’s chose.
The instructor uses a scanner to upload the design and has a machine that adheres it to a tile.
In the end, we made a pretty tile and this was something different to do in Lisbon.
My friend and I are not sure that we would really recommend the class.

Fun solo activity!
Absolutely book this immediately. It was delightful. She has stencils, paints, all the supplies, and you leave with your tile at the end of class. You will LOVE it!!

Great workshop…if you speak French.
The workshop was for 6 people, but 2 did not show, so it was just 4 of us. The class was in the instructor’s art studio and she was prepared for us upon arrival. She explained the process and then let us take our time creating our tile. 2 of the people in the class were French and the instructor was French. Meanwhile myself and the other person only spoke English. Although everyone in the room spoke English, the 3 of them proceeded to speak exclusively French and the instructor told them all about the history of color and Portuguese tile art…in French. Myself and the other English speaker were left feeling out of place. That was disappointing, since I specifically booked this activity because it was led in English. I found it rude and inconsiderate.

Great experience
This is a great way to spend a few hours and be creative. Small class size and way to do. The instructor is very helpful even if you aren’t creative.
You use a series of plastic stencils to create a design on paper and then paint with watercolor That design is scanned onto a transfer material and then onto a tile. The instructor cleans up the design as appropriate to make it look neat. You will be amazed at the results.

The best souvenir's from Lisbon!
The tiles we created turned out so great. Whether you think you are artistic or not, Agatha makes it easy to have a beautiful end result. I appreciate the small group setting that is very relaxing and easy to meet new people. This was the perfect way to end our trip from Lisbon and leave with the most meaningful souvenirs.
