We've always wanted to see the famous snow monkeys but never had the time or opportunity because we prefer to stay in Tokyo and were told that it is not possible by car. When I see this offered by Tomodachi tours I decided to give it a try. Harry was our assigned guide and driver and he made it possible with his impeccable driving. We started early to avoid the traffic and had a good comfortable sleep in the ride before the 3.2km rejuvating forest hike both ways to see the monkeys having a dip in the onsen, chimping out on each other, grooming, swinging from tree to tree or looking zen sitting alone on the rocks or a tree branch. This was followed by a fulfilling no msg ramen lunch at a small cosy rural restaurant. Next up was Zenkoji, for spiritual fulfilment with enough time to make 10 wishes and shop for amulet and souvenirs before the long trip back to Tokyo downtown. We slept the entire journey back and Harry did a great job keeping us safe and comfortable, and before we know it, we were back at our hotel enjoying hors d'oeuvres at the lounge and shopping in the malls.
