Probably a good place to start would be our initial contact at Paulsplatz, city. The operator was hopeless, as they told us we didn’t have a bar code on our Viator docs: what utter rubbish! I pulled up the pdf doc which clearly shows a barcode: regardless they would not allow us on the bus. After some discussion we convinced her to use her scanner on the barcode we had & guess what it worked. Very poor service: it was only that we insisted that we finally got what we paid for: 2 tickets on their bus. Our expectations were very low at this point, given that we went up to the top deck where we all waited patiently for around 30 minutes. On went the 50+ sunburn cream! These were the low points. Now the more positive. We were all given earpieces to listen to the commentary, which was outstanding. We did this on a Saturday before lunch, which turned out a great decision given traffic, weather, etc. in short it turned out a fabulous 90 minute round trip with about 8 stops: we stayed on for another 30 minutes, chatted to some fellow travellers whilst waiting to go again: we left at a stop close to our hotel. Overall we really enjoyed this terrific bus trip around inner Frankfurt city. A beautiful city: fantastic at night with all the lights on apparently. Any room for improvement: they should have numbers for the stops identified on the brochure provided, to make it easier to navigate. Our rating as seasoned OS retired travellers: overall 4 stars/out of 5. We would recommend this one to our fellow travellers but be aware of our initial comments: in our experience Viator always provides the correct documentation with all its tours. We rated this pretty highly as it provides us tourists with a terrific overview & history of the city & its significance in Germany today. Kind regards, Greynomads.

Did a lap around & struggled to think of why to stop at any of the points of interest. Spent a bit of time stuck in traffic as the tour goes through the Business district which can become congested quickly

Not much to see. It was very hot and sunny so people preferred to sit below but there were just 6-7 seats and bus had no airconditioning. There was no view as windows were fritted so you couldn't see out clearly. Needs better thought and design

Disaster! At first my ticket was not recognized.. minute-long discussions until it started! Then we did not drive past the Alte Oper, the Schweizer Straße or the Konstablerwache. And whenever there was talk of an important road or building, we were miles away from it! When we were standing near Goethe House, this was not mentioned with any syllable.

We were a family (2 adults, 2 children) and booked a hop‐on hop‐off tour in Frankfurt on 21.04.2026. The process was disappointing and dangerous: Withdrawal period: Arrival at the main station 10:27 am, booked departure 11:39 am — we waited over an hour. The previous bus had already left without us being informed. Missing/wrong timetable information: We did not find reliable departure times on the booking page (www.grayline.com), in the confirmation email and on the voucher. Partner sites cited a 20-30 minute interval, which was not true. Live tracking was only mentioned to us when we got in and would have prevented the situation. Accessibility & service: The number indicated on the voucher (+49 89 54 90 75 60) could not be reached. Only after detours did we find another number; the information in Frankfurt seemed uninformed and showed no empathy. Promised waiting times (“5–10 minutes”) did not apply. Ticket processing & personnel: Upon boarding, a voucher was printed stating that it was “not valid as a ticket” — yet this document was apparently necessary for reboarding. The staff did not point this out to us and behaved unkindly. Security deficiency: On the way on, the driver had to perform emergency braking because a car in front was misjudged. Our children were thrown forward and slightly injured. That was scary and unacceptable. Conclusion: The provider has failed in reliability, customer information, service and road safety. We have already contacted the company and expect a written apology, adequate compensation and concrete measures for improvement. Until then and based on other reviews visible here, we cannot recommend this tour.

I have been on many of these hop on hop off buses in the UK and they were excellent. This one in Frankfurt is the worst bus tour I have ever been on. Hard to find the bus stop - then the bus arrived full (but driver still letting people on), and the bus behind didn't stop but had seats available. Then when the bus stopped at the old town (and we finally got a seat together) - we were told to get off and board another bus (which was also full). We paid for an hour tour, so the bus should just go round in a circle (you shouldnt have to get off half way round). Absolute disaster and wouldnt recommend to anyone. Take a nice leisurely cruise down the river instead, much more enjoyable.
