イオニア海のコリントス湾はコリントス運河でつながっています。コリントス運河は小さなコリントス地峡を横切ってペロポネソス半島とギリシャ本土を分断しており、半島を島に変えているとも言えます。水門のない運河は海面から地峡を横切って掘られました。底部の幅はわずか 21.4 メートル (70 フィート)、長さは 6.4 キロメートル (4 km) しかないため、現代の船の多くはこの地峡を通過できません。コリントス地峡の景色は高いところから眺めるのが一番で、そこからは街の切り立った石灰岩の壁を眺めたり、下の運河を航行する船を眺めたりすることもできます。

Yiannis was an amazing guide/driver, we had a great time and the drive to Olympia so really didn't feel long. Both, Corinth Channel and Olympia are worth seeing. The time I had there also was enough to get a good impression of each of these places without the feeling of being in a hurry. After all I definitely can recommend the trip.

The Corinth Canal is a very brief stop but it is worth seeing how deep of a canal was built. Pretty impressive. Ancient Olympia has a very nice museum and ruins of the Olympic village. There was less in the Olympic Village than we expected but it was worth going to as you can still see the outlines of the buildings and the race track.
