Nikos was very knowledgeable about the Spartan and Persian battle at Thermopylae. He explained how the topography has changed since that battle took place. We walked on the same path as the battle was fought, and saw a plaque memorializing the men who died and were buried there. We visited the two memorials and the small museum that explained the war and its significance for the Greek people. The only downside is that Thermopylae is a distance from Athens, so you have to be OK with a longer ride. Nikos was great at sharing Greek history during the ride, which made it pleasant.

Not as promised
Booked a private tour but driver arrived with others in the vehicle and he said they had one more group to pickup. He was surprised when I told him we had booked a private tour. He called the office and claimed they had a broken down vehicle and that's why others were coming along. No communication in advance nor offer to discount or an alternative arrangement. We ended up refusing to go on the tour since it wasn't as promised. Please be aware you may not get what you booked.

Unfortunately, the vehicle assigned to your tour experienced a technical problem at the last minute. As soon as we were informed, we immediately arranged the nearest available driver with a minibus so that you would not miss your tour. At that time, the minibus already had two other travelers on board who were also going to Thermopylae.
We completely understand that you had booked a private tour and that you did not wish to share the vehicle with other travelers. For this reason, when you told us that you did not want to proceed under these circumstances, we immediately cancelled the tour and issued you a full refund.
We always do our best to find a solution when unexpected vehicle problems occur, while safety must always remain our first priority. Unfortunately, technical issues can sometimes happen at the last minute, despite our best efforts.
We are sorry that the situation did not meet your expectations, but we believe that we did everything possible to accommodate you, avoid you missing your tour, and, when the alternative arrangement was not acceptable to you, provide an immediate full refund.
For this reason, we feel that this review does not fully reflect the circumstances of what happened. Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback and thank you for your understanding.

Thermopoli
Our driver Nikos was a very personable and a likeable person, would highly recommend him. On a scale of 10 l would give him 20. As for the tour a total disappointment, very much a waste of time. 2 and a half hour drive to get to a museum with no exhibits and just a 10 minute 3d movie, staff were very nice and helpful 👍. No wifi in vehicle.

Regarding Thermopylae, we understand that the visit may not be what every traveler expects. The site does not have extensive modern facilities, the main purpose of the visit is for those who wish to stand on and experience the historic battlefield of the famous Battle of Thermopylae.
The visit includes the museum and a 40-minute documentary explaining the history of the wars between the Greeks and Persians, the statue of King Leonidas, the battlefield itself, the remains of the ancient wall, and the nearby hot springs. The tour also includes an extra stop in the seaside town of Kamena Vourla.

The best walk
Wonderful tour with Yiannis.
He was very helpful and attentive with my group of friends. I had a hurt foot and he flexed the ride so I could enjoy it.
It's worth it!

Great Visit to Thermopylae
Great experience with our guide, Nikos. He was very knowledgeable and personable. The Thermopylae site is undergoing improvements but completely accessible and apparently easier to navigate than in the past. Nikos pointed out all the key sites and was very flexible on what we wanted to explore. Great day

Thermopylae trip review.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. He made the trip enjoyable, taking us into the field. If you're into battle history and experiencing the lay of the land that impacted this battle you'll enjoy. Beautiful ride through the country side and lunch in a café on the water.

Surreal Experience at the Gates of History (or the Hot Gates)
The experience was incredible and honestly surreal. The museum admission was very affordable, and the trip itself was exactly the right length. The atmosphere there was amazing — you could really feel the history around you. My guide made it even better with how knowledgeable he was about Thermopylae and Greek history overall, while also being super friendly and accommodating. I’d absolutely do the trip again with him and the company, and I’d easily recommend it to others.

Brilliant Thermopyle battle site tour.
A great experience for those interested on military history. There were two of us in the group and th driver engaged with us sharing his knowledge about Thermopyle and the battles that preceded and followed it. He also described points of interest along the way. The museum is small and fee, which wasn't included was 3 Euros, so no issue, but have the correct amount ready. The lunch stop was a great spot, with amazing views of the Aegean and nearby islands. Excellent for enthusiasts.

Don’t hesitate!
Highly recommend this adventure. The best part if a wonderful say was getting to know Nikos. Life in Greece came alive during our conversations on the ride. We never felt rushed and were able to really enjoy the day learning about the rich history of Greece.
