Our trip to Mount Fuji was nothing short of magical, thanks to our wonderful guide, John-san! He was easy to talk to in English and answered all our questions around Mt Fuji and Tokyo. The itinerary was perfectly balanced, blending popular tourist spots with local favorites. We enjoyed serene moments in less crowded areas and tasted authentic Japanese cuisine at a quaint local restaurant. John-san's expertise ensured that we experienced the very best of Mount Fuji in a relaxed and enjoyable way. To top it all off, he even recommended some great restaurants in Tokyo to end the day! Highly recommended for anyone looking to discover both the well-known and the hidden gems of Mount Fuji, with a local Japanese guide!🌸🗻
I have a ton of great experiences in Japan so far but John was by far excellent. He understood what my wife wanted and really gave a 10 out of 5 star experience. Two thumbs up and a genuine smile. He went out of his way to show my wife good street snacks and introduced me to some snacks since I am a picky eater. He was very knowledgeable on cultural differences and really kept the conversation going. I'm a talker but he kept up and his English was better than mine and it's my only language. Now my wife wants to come back to Japan just to do another tour with him!
Before our trip, my friend told me, “When you look for a tour, choose the local tour guide”. And this was great advice! John the tour guide (he’s Japanese. “John” is his English nickname), who speaks good English (way better than our hotel clerk), took us around Mt.Fuji. Though we were caught in a traffic jam for a while, it didn’t bother us at all. We simply enjoyed talking with this local Japanese good guy! We talked not only about Mt.Fuji, but also talked about what souvenirs we should get, what food and snacks we should try, how to use a coffee machine at the convenience stores, what the best anime ever was, and more! The time we spent with him was one of the greatest part of our whole trip. It was the true journey experience! So, if you are looking for a tour, believe me, I highly recommend you to pick this guy! We miss Tokyo, and we miss him so much!
John was a great guide and really took good care of us. Very good driver and his excellent English was helpful. We highly recommend him and would take another trip with him if we had the opportunity.
Our first day in Japan was truly unforgettable, thanks to our wonderful tour guides, John and Nagata-chi. Despite this being their first tour together, they exceeded all expectations and made our experience exceptional. Our journey to Mt. Fuji began with a warm welcome from John and Nagata-chi, who filled in seamlessly for John's usual partner, Naoki. Despite the language barrier, Nagata-chi's cheerful demeanor and smiles made us feel at ease. John worked closely with us to ensure our day was filled with experiences and locations we wanted to see. Upon arriving Mt. Fuji, John helped us capture breathtaking photos against the majestic backdrop and as we descended, we hiked the 4th station where we encountered more spectacular views and John shared fascinating insights about Japan's ancient customs, Torii gates, and sacred shrines. With John's assurance, we explored the Ken-Marubi lava flow equipped and with hard hats on, we ventured into the intriguing tree molds encased by ancient lava. Though a bit fearful, we were guided safely and happily by his expert advice, making it an adventure of a lifetime. At another stop, The Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, we were fortunate to witness and participate in Golden Week festivities. This was the highlight of our trip to Japan! Without John’s encouragement and perfect English to help us translate we might have missed this opportunity. We immersed ourselves in local traditions, experiencing everything from archery and mochi making to tasting that most amazing homemade mochi, other local Japanese food, and sake. John and Nagata-chi transformed what we thought would be a simple tour into a cherished memory. Their dedication and friendliness turned them from guides into friends. If you're considering a tour of Mt. Fuji, we would highly recommend John and Nagata-chi or his partner Naoki. They made our day perfect with their door-to-door service, and we can’t thank them enough for their exceptional guidance and warm hospitality.
It was the best experience and I highly recommend tokyohandsomecaravan Fuji tour to everyone. I was worried about making a reservation since there were no reviews, but John and Naoki’s tour was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip to Japan. They were genuinely committed to making our first experience of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding tourist spots memorable. As a result, we went to the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji, and they took us to local spots that only locals know about, allowing us to see scenery far beyond our expectations. In addition to taking us to the planned tour sites, they also asked about our interests and took us to places that matched those interests. Especially, the Funatsu Lava Tree Molds Cave was an amazing experience. John and Naoki were very friendly and energetic, making us feel like we were with old friends. We made friends in Japan! They didn’t just take us to the destinations but also shared their knowledge and passion with us. Arigato
Nagata-chi and John are phenomenal tour guides for exploring the majestic Mt. Fuji and its surroundings. Despite a setback with Naoki falling ill, Nagata-chi stepped in seamlessly, ensuring our day was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we set off in the clean and comfortable van with expansive windows to soak in the stunning views, we knew we were in for a treat. John's engaging personality kept us entertained throughout the journey. Our adventure began with a visit to the 5th station of Mt. Fuji, where John captured breathtaking family photos against the awe-inspiring backdrop. Moving down to the 4th station, we enjoyed a delightful hike with insightful commentary on Japan's ancient culture and rituals. A highlight of the day was exploring a lava tunnel, complete with hard hats and gloves. John's captivating storytelling enhanced the experience, giving us a deeper understanding of the cave's formation. Next, a picturesque temple with a grand tree-lined entrance. During our visit, a Golden Week festival was in full swing, which was a delightful surprise. John and Nagata-chi allowed us to immerse ourselves fully in the festivities—interacting with locals, experiencing traditional archery, dances, drum performances, mochi making, and indulging in authentic Japanese delicacies. Venturing into a local town, we immersed ourselves in Japanese culture, admiring architecture, serene gardens, and vibrant Koi ponds. Climbing 400 steps to a stunning pagoda rewarded us with a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms, resulting in one of our favorite photos of the day. Our final stop at a serene lake, with mountains silhouetted against the setting sun, provided a tranquil conclusion to an unforgettable day. John and Nagata-chi's personalized approach made us feel like cherished guests, rather than tourists. Their warmth, humor, and extensive knowledge enriched every moment of the tour. It was like exploring with local friends who shared invaluable insights into Japan's rich heritage. Moreover, their exceptional service shone through when we accidentally left an item in their van. The next day, they went out of their way to return it to our hotel, demonstrating their commitment to customer care and going above and beyond. Having taken tours around the world, we can confidently say this was the most enjoyable and authentic experience we've had. If you're visiting Tokyo and seeking an exceptional tour, look no further than John and Nagata-chi (and Naoki). We wholeheartedly recommend their services. John and Nagata-chi, arigato as 有り難う. We feel fortunate to have crossed paths with you and look forward to reuniting on our next visit to Japan!
