I signed up for a tour of the palace and Sissi gardens. This guide was obsessed with Sissi and Joseph II to the exclusion of much info about the palace, much of which was fortunately filled in during our small group city tour the next day. Her description of Archduke Maximillian’s rule of Mexico was just wrong, again filled in the day after on another tour. And also disappointing was her summary at the holocaust memorial sculpture on the way to the palace, a throw in, which lacked even the detail i’d already read on the sign and which appeared to have little concern for the 65000 Austrian Jews who perished. Little mention was made of it, and the description of the bronze figure merely as a Jew without the explanation of its purpose on the sign was disturbing. And again, kudos to the tour the following day for throughly providing a description that was thorough that benefited our fellow tourists that day. Honesty, this was the worst tour I have ever experienced, and I have been on many. It deserves no stars.

We would like to clarify that this was booked as a Hofburg and Sisi Museum tour, and the focus of this tour is therefore Empress Elisabeth, the imperial family, and the historical context connected to the museum visit. For this reason, the guide’s focus was in line with the tour description. Regarding the monument against war and fascism, we fully agree that it is an important and sensitive part of Vienna’s history. As it is not part of the main tour content, it is only briefly mentioned while passing by on the way to the palace. We are sorry if this short explanation did not meet your expectations. Really enjoyed this tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable, and she made our time in the museum interesting.
Brigitte was a wonderful and conscientious guide through the museum. Her tour was well-paced and informative while being humorous throughout. An injured knee meant stairs and extended standing were difficult, and Brigitte made note of that early, got us on an elevator for the stairs at the beginning, and helped locate chairs throughout the tour.
Very narrow passage and a lot of tourism for the space. They should accept less people at the same time but it's very interesting and magnificent.

Dear Nikki, we are very surprised to read your review. You joined a very small group tour (7 people, including your party), and the tour took place exactly as scheduled. Your group did enter both the museum and the Imperial Apartments. The experience begins with an orientation walk through the main courtyards of the Hofburg—an extensive complex made up of 18 buildings—before continuing inside for the guided visit. We meet at Albertinaplatz 1, as this is where the Hofburg Palace begins; the Albertina itself is already part of this historic complex. The Hofburg includes several museums, each with its own entrance. During our tour, we enter the Sisi Museum and the Imperial Apartments, while also exploring the wider palace from the outside and sharing its history.
