We’re glad there were some real highlights for you, especially the Māori village, the geothermal areas and finishing the day at the Polynesian Spa. Just to add a little context around the time between the Māori village tour and the cultural performance — we actually allow this time quite deliberately. Guests have the opportunity to explore the self-guided geothermal trail at their own pace, and there is also time to slow things down, have something to eat or browse the souvenir shops. A lot of day tours are very tightly scheduled, with guests moving from one activity straight to the next, and one thing we’re trying to do with our tours is avoid making the day feel like a race. We’d rather give guests a little breathing room to wander, take photos and enjoy the surroundings. That said, we completely understand that everyone travels differently, and for some guests that extra time can feel longer than expected. Your review is useful and we’ll keep looking at how we can make that part of the day clearer so guests know how that time can be used. We’re also sorry to hear that you felt your guide was subdued and that the interaction around the pickup left you feeling uncomfortable. We understand that keeping to the schedule is important on a long day, but guests should still feel welcomed and looked after, and we’ll be discussing this with the team. Rotorua is a bit of a journey from Auckland, and while the distance isn’t something we can change, we do try to make the day as comfortable and enjoyable as possible along the way.
