This was a comfortable way to get from De Nang to Hua but tbh we expected more spectacular views (maybe this is relative); thought that there would be an opportunity to stop for photos - there was one rather random stop at a station and were a bit disappointed by the community carriage. We thought that entertainment would be provided throughout - and there was some of the way but when we went back towards the end of the journey there were two rather bored looking women just on their phones and not singing or playing music.

Very slow but scenic
This train is very slow but so very scenic. We really enjoyed the views and the glimpses into the way of life of country Vietnamese people. Very cheap trip as well… $10aud from Hue to Da Nang. 😳

Great, except for seating options
Beautiful scenery. However, one side of the train is substantially better than the other. When we booked, that was not mentioned and there was no way to select seats. Unfortunately, we were seated on the inferior side.

Absolutly Negative Experience
I booked two tickets for the Heritage Hai Van Pass train well in advance to make sure we got window seats. Despite reserving a month early, the intermediary assigned us two seats far from the window and even separated from each other.
We ended up paying almost twice the official price without receiving any additional service. The intermediary later justified this by saying that other passengers had booked up to two months earlier, but the result is that—even with our early reservation—we were given the worst seats available (including seats blocked by pillars).
A disappointing experience: I strongly advise against using this service. Buying the tickets on your own is definitely more convenient and reliable.

During peak periods, the Heritage Hai Van Pass train can become fully booked very early, and seat availability is unfortunately controlled by the railway system. While we always try our best to secure the best available seats for our guests, we understand that this does not make the experience any less frustrating when the seats are separated or affected by pillars.

Heritage Train from Hue to Da Nang
The Heritage Train from Hue to Da Nang was a decent way to travel between the two cities, but it was generally an average experience overall. The highlight was definitely the stunning ocean views as the train wound its way around the coast and approached Da Nang, making for some great photo opportunities.
If you’re not in a hurry, it’s a good option for a slower-paced journey instead of travelling by road. Just don’t expect it to be a major sightseeing attraction in itself.

Go to station early incase of ticket issues
We almost missed the train due the station not being able to find the tickets we purchased through Viator.
The train ran late making us late for our return journey.
1 st half of the trip had beautiful views, the 2nd is less spectacular.
Staff on the train were great
Seats are very comfortable
