Today’s tour with Ping was just great! Full of insights and curiosities about earlier immigrants and Chinese traditions!

We had a fantastic and very informative free walking tour through Chinatown in Singapore! Our guide Pam was amazing — super friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. She shared lots of interesting stories and insights about the area and Singapore’s history. Highly recommended!

_Chinatown tour - Pam_ Pamela was our guide on the Chinatown tour. She was fantastic! From the very beginning, she made us feel comfortable and had a wonderful sense of humour. She had great storytelling from beginning to end, taking us visually through the history of Chinatown. She also showed us a selection of old photos throughout the tour, and was able to tailor the conversations in our tour to our interests. We explored the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple at first, where Pamela told us about Chinese cultural traditions, ancestor worship, the backstory of gods and her own experiences. We looked at other historic sites and were able to see the contrast between older Singapore and modern Singapore. There were murals and explanations about shophouses, and conversations about the different Chinese clans. We also got to visit a hawker centre, and Chinatown’s famous market streets during the tour. Despite the light rain, Pam made it a very worthwhile tour and the time flew! We highly recommend and bonus was we got to explore the Chinatown Heritage Centre afterward at a very discounted rate of $5 (normally $25) because we booked it at the time that we booked this walking tour. These Monster 2.5hr walking tours are free, in that it is up to the participants to tip. The recommended tip is about Singapore $20-25, or more as you wish.

I did the tour with Ping, and she was very friendly and attentive from the very start, with well-timed stops for water, a breather, and the bathroom. The tour was full of anecdotes and information about the history of the Chinese and Indian communities, all delivered with great storytelling. We also tasted lots of local specialties thanks to Ping's great recommendations. I probably wouldn't have felt comfortable going into the temples on my own, so I was really happy to learn about the cultural practices too. Overall, being with a local made the visit so much more grounded and authentic, and Ping's personnality made the visit very special. I 100% recommend it!

I did my tour with Ping, and it was EXCELLENT. She's a wildly skilled storyteller, and makes such a point of looking out for the folks on her tour while leading it. Not just making sure we got all the information she can share (although she shared an impressive and massive array of stories), but also looking for opportunities for us to stand in the shade while storytelling, ensuring we had opportunities to take pictures but also hear everything, and helping everyone see details that might be harder to catch visually. And, of course, I learned SO MUCH about the history of Chinatown and the people who lived there. If you're curious and interested in learning, I can't recommend Ping's tour more highly.

We had the best time with the best guide in the city! Ping is really the best : she knows it all and share with you her love for the city and the people she goes on tour with. We had a chance to listen some true stories of the past and present, and even experience some of the best local food. Ping managed the time very well so we could get the most of it, especially taking advantage of special event of mid octobre festival. The tour is free, works on tips, well deserved! The group was small, felt exclusive! It was also very nice to meet people from different countries. Dont forget to take water with you. If you want to learn about Chinese (and indian) communities in Singapour with a talented story teller, this is for you.

I took a Monster tour for chinatown in july 2026 and i left within 30min because the guide provided nothing interesting on Thiang Hock Keng temple. Waste of time. I tried again in Sep and My guide Ms Ping was just excellent! She can talk so well! Her knowledge has depth, she showed us interesting things and provide fresh perspective of Singapore. Her story telling is fluid and flawless! She’s so enthusiastic that there’s no single boring moment during the tour. I like to know when is her next tour so that i can plan ahead joining. She’s awesome.

Very exciting tour! Ernest knows an incredible amount and introduced us to Chinatown in an entertaining way. His English is very good!
