We visited Taylor’s for a private Port masterclass during a trip to Portugal with friends, and it turned out to be one of the best things we did. Our guide, Andrew Costello, was exceptional — his depth of knowledge was remarkable, and he walked us through the wines with a level of detail and passion that made everything click. The setting was unbelievable, and having a private area for our tasting made it feel genuinely exclusive and personal. Andrew made the whole group feel looked after from start to finish. We could not recommend this experience, or Andrew, more highly. A must-do if you’re visiting the Gaia cellars.

This was an epic tasting lead by our wonderful, experienced and very knowledgeable host Janaina ! She made this experience so causal, comfortable, engaging and enlightening. We learned so much about the wine , the city the region and the culture surrounding the beautiful Taylor- Fladgate offerings. Janaina slowly walked us through long history viewed by barrel after barrel and terroir that explained the nuances of what we were about to taste. The port wines from 10 to 50 yrs in age were spectacular and Janaina amplified the experience by encouraging us to close our eyes to smell and taste the hidden beauty of all the expressions. The evolution in taste and maturity across so many years laid down in barrels really hit home. We opted to include The Kingsman, a 90+ flavor powerhouse that is difficult to describe in words. The differences were astounding and left me just amazed at the craft we were presented with. I highly recommend this tour and tasting and if it is possible to request a guide you must try to ask for Janaina. She really made this wonderful event a memorable one, not soon to be forgotten. Thank you Janaina and Taylor-Fladgate for everything, what a day in Gaia!!!

We chose Taylor’s ICONS Masterclass as part of Eric’s 60th birthday celebrations in Porto, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. A huge part of that was thanks to Jana. Her knowledge of Port is exceptional, but what impressed us most was how perfectly she adapted the experience to both of us. Eric is a genuine Port enthusiast, while I am very much a beginner. Jana gave Eric the depth and detail he was looking for, while explaining everything clearly enough for me to understand and genuinely enjoy it too. The Masterclass was scheduled for two hours, but we had lots of questions and Jana never made us feel rushed. She generously extended the session, answering our questions and giving us plenty of time to taste, compare and fully appreciate each of the four ICON Ports. We thanked her many times for being so generous with her time, but her answer said it all: Port is her passion, and she loves sharing it. That passion came through throughout the entire experience. Knowledgeable, patient and genuinely passionate — Jana made an exceptional tasting truly memorable. Thank you, Jana and Taylor’s, for making Eric’s 60th birthday celebration even more special! The historic atmosphere and the wine quality are second to none, but what truly elevated our tasting from great to unforgettable was our incredible host, Mari.Mari was phenomenal—so welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable. She guided us through the vintage ports with so much passion and expertise, answering all our questions and making us feel completely at home.If you are visiting, the premium tasting is worth every penny, and we highly recommend asking for Mari to host you! Fantastic tour with Pedro Ribeiro at Taylor in Gaia. He did an exceptional job explaining the different types of port wine, how each type is made, grapes used, the aging/fermentation process and much more. We had three other port wine tours throughout the Douro Valley and none of them came close to the tour we had with Pedro. 5 Stars to Pedro and Taylor. This is the only one you want to book.

Daniela was a superb guide. The experience was unforgettable and made our trip to Porto. The port wines were well selected and the vintage 85 was the best we’ve ever tried. We hope to come back again. Thanks to Daniela for a very special day.

We booked a Masterclass tasting here and couldn't have had a better time. The tour with Andrew was perfectly 'tailored' to our level of knowledge and trod the line between depth and brevity very well. Seeing the barrels aging the port, some older than us, was a great way to get up close to the character of the place. Then getting to see the cellar with vintages going back to 1900 was a particular treat. The masterclass itself was great fun - again, Andrew was an ideal guide to take us through the vintages and it felt more like we were talking with an old friend than anything else. It was a great shame to have to leave, but the blow was softened by taking a few things home from the gift shop. Not cheap, but great value as surely the best tour and tasting experience available in Gaia.

We had an excellent experience with our friendly host Andrew who kindly told us about portwine, cultivating plants and history of the Taylor`s. After visiting the winecellar and around the place, he gave us a wonderful tasting of 4 different Ruby’s of different ages. All very good quality and delicious taste. We can absolutely recommend this for everyone.

Our guide Andrew Costello is an amazing and very knowledgeable host. The entire visit was pure joy beginning to end, and I learned a tremendous amount about the history of Taylor specifically and port house operations and processes. Vintage Port selected for the tasting was superb, and 1996 was a highlight of the day for me. Thank you!

Masterclass - Vargellas Vintage Port Tasting: Fantastic 2.5 hour very small group tour of the wine cellar and then vertical tasting of Vargellas for 1988, to 1995, 2005 and 2019 vintage port. We were just two couples, and Andrew was a fabulous guide. He had been at Taylor for over 20 years and spent over an hour explaining how port is made, how the terroir is established in Duoro Valley, as well as the history of port making. Absolutely recommend this tour.
