A most enjoyable experience, relaxing, informative and fun all facilitated by beautiful weather on the day. The owner Gerry was there to greet us on arrival and introduce us to Chris, our barge captain and guide extraordinaire! The vessel was comfortable and very well maintained. Chris was most knowledgeable on all subjects, natural environment, wildlife, canal workings and history and seemed to personally know all the residents past and present along the route, including their pets.

Wonderful Peaceful Adventures on Barge trips in Picturesque Sallins
This was such a beautiful trip. Really peaceful and serene, gliding up the grand Canal, close to the water and all the wildlife. Our guides were full of really interesting facts, lore and history about the canals which was fascinating. They used humour really well in telling us the stories or anecdotes. We also treated ourselves to drinks on board and it felt really luxurious to be sipping some prosecco or enjoying a freshly poured pint of their own unique delicious barge brew whilst cruising up the canal. Seeing how the locks work and experiencing the lift and rise was really exciting and new. We had a gorgeous day and I've since done this trip again with other friends. I also went on the biodiverdity cruise with my Dad and we both abdolutely loved it. Our eyes were really opened to all the amazing wild flowers and fauna we have all around us on the canal. We were enchanted to see Swans nesting with their cignets, ducks and their ducklings, moorhen with their young. Loads of spectacular dragonflies in azure blues, vivid greens, colourful butterflies and hawk moths and the majestic heron flying overhead. We also saw lots of fish swimming through the reeds. It was magical and so informative. I can highly recommend bargetrips.ie Ger provides a fantastic service in picturesque Sallins. A beautiful day out for all ages. Relaxing cruise on the Grand Canal
My Wife and I went on the Digby Lock cruise yesterday. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Captain Chris and his Mate were excellent host and made everyone on the trip welcome and safe. We were lucky that the weather was really nice and could spend most of the trip on the open forward deck. Cruising along the canal was so relaxing. The crew were a mine of information and history. The demonstration of the lock was fascinating. We didn't feel the 2.5 hours pass by. More than worth the fee.

A lovely experience
We had an fantastic time on this 1-hour barge cruise! We were traveling with small children, and the 1-hour duration was the absolute perfect length of time to keep them completely engaged without anyone getting restless or bored.The experience was incredibly safe, relaxing, and enjoyable for the whole family. The kids loved looking out at the water and watching the scenery go by. It was a wonderful, stress-free way to spend an hour, and I highly recommend it to any parents looking for a family-friendly activity!

Excellent experience to learn about canal environment.
Our second trip with Chris. Apart from being a lovely relaxing experience it is also very interesting and informative.
Chris’s knowledge of the flora, fauna and animal life in the canal is impressive.
We will take the longer trip next year.

Relaxed Sunday morning
A wonderfully relaxed and peaceful Sunday morning spent cruising down the canal to Digby Lock. We were a party of four (two adults and two teenage girls) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The girls especially loved seeing the lock being filled and then drained as part of our journey. We also enjoyed spotting the local wildlife along the way. A lovely, tranquil trip that we’d happily recommend!
