We take several tours every trip and this was one of the best tours we’ve taken- ever. Pablo is very well informed, passionate about art, and a great teacher. He focuses on things to look for in a painting to obtain a deeper understanding of the work. You’ll leave with skills to apply on your own so that you have a deeper appreciation of other paintings. Why has nobody else told us these things??? I guess you need to major in art history major in college to learn this, unless you take a tour with Pablo. There was one painting that he had us look at from different angles relative to the painting. I don’t want to give away the surprise. But it was spectacular. It altered the way we will view art. We noticed that no other tour guide did this when they brought their groups to this painting. Pablo has chosen each painting that he shows you for a reason. The reason is to equip you with the skills to enjoy art on your own by showing you what things to look for. Before this tour, I could not understand why one well known masterpiece is so highly regarded, and I’m not one to hold something in high esteem just because others do. Now, however, I thoroughly appreciate that masterpiece. And he is very kind and considerate.

I can’t tell you how great our tour with Pablo was. We learned so much, and his depth of knowledge is immense. He can answer nearly any question you might have about the art, and he does an amazing job of curating an immense collection so that you get a full range of the history of the art and its evolution, but in a way where you don’t get too bogged down in the vast history the collection encompasses. He’s smart, friendly, and welcomes questions and input from the people taking the tour, which makes it a great interactive learning experience. I truly learned more about the evolution of the Renaissance art movement from the Flemish works all the way to Goya, the first modernist. Another thing that was great was not just the history of the art, but how he explained and showed the differences of how to view it as it was intended. Everyone rushes to the front of the line to see it up close, but he explained and demonstrated how we perceive art differently from different distances and angles. If I ever make it back, I’ll definitely hire him again to show us more of what we didn’t get to see. It’s a huge museum and having a knowledgeable person guide you through it is immensely valuable. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent on a guide.

Pablo was fantastic! Really had the hits and the lessons down a T. Very glad I did this! The small group experience was quite nice. And I learnt a lot more than I expected about art history in a short time.

Our tour with Pablo was a most extraordinary visit to the Prado. We learned so much about the history of artists through the Renaissance period. Pablo is incredibly knowledgeable about how these artists conveyed the meaning of their paintings. He communicates clearly and makes each painting come alive. Looking at some of the paintings from different distances was exciting and allowed us to learn more about complex perspectives. We will remember this tour always. We’ll be looking at eyes, hands, and objects when we visit other art museums. Thank you, Pablo!

This was an incredible experience and worth every penny. We love art museums but this was by far our favorite and it was all because of our wonderful guide. We learned so much - not just about the art but also our response to it.

Pablo was amazing. The Prado is a very busy museum and Pablo is an expert in guiding you through the entrance and crowds once inside. His selections of paintings that he reviews are purposefully targeted and build upon one another. The information and insights he shared gave us a greater appreciation of the art.
