One of Bali’s most authentic experiences was found not in a tourist attraction, but inside a Balinese family home. At Jawan Silver Class, we discovered a craft passed from father to family, generations of knowledge, patience and skill now shared with visitors. Sitting together in their home and creating our own silver jewellery felt personal, genuine and far removed from a commercial workshop. Our driver, Dastra, was warm, reliable and made the experience even more enjoyable. We left with more than handmade jewellery we left carrying a small piece of a Balinese family story.

First of all, I have to split the review into 2 parts to be fair. The silver jewellery workshop was excellent. The host and his family were super kind and patient to teach me. In the end I made two rings from design to finish in 2 hours. It was incredible! However, the booking company contact wasn’t that responsive and nice. I booked my time at 9am and he messaged me if I can go earlier. I told him I had to prepare for check out that morning, so I couldn’t go earlier than this. Then he totally disappeared, no response on the message conversation. At around 11pm at night before the trip, then he finally said it’s confirmed. This is not a responsible way to let customers hang in the air and not sure if the trip is good to go ahead. Also, although the driver was very kind and good at driving, but the pics he helped me take were out of focus, mostly because he couldn’t see the screen clearly. This one was really by luck if driver has good eyes or not. I’d definitely do the workshop with this jeweller again but not with this tour company because of the bad customer experience.

Great class! Excellent English spoken by the instructor - she was very helpful and ensured we made something we wanted to make. Very happy with the result. Also had an excellent driver who was very friendly with great English.

We loved the silver making class in Ubud! The operators are a family owned business and were very patient and provided clear explanations of the entire process. They were also really Helpful with getting our ring designs created and made just to our liking. Also special shout out to our driver Guna who was a delight to chat with!

So friendly and very helpful- very interesting in learning the process of jewellery making and hearing about her family traditions of how this business started. Loved having some pieces of jewellery that I actually made- very special.

Excellent hosts. Allowed you to be creative and work in your own, but helped you with every step along the way when needed. Very happy with the pieces we ended up with.
